Baked Goods & Sweet Treats DIY Recipes

DIY Brownie Mix Jar

I usually kickstart the weekends with a recipe post but today I’m going to kill two birds with one stone and have a recipe/DIY post.  Has anyone else lusted over the beautiful Yummy Recipe Desserts in a Jar that Jamie Oliver’s Recipease stores make?  They are beautiful and fun.  But they cost an exorbitant amount of money.  Almost £10 for brownies in a jar that you still have to make?  No thanks.  But it is a good idea (I think) so make them yourself instead.

I put one of these jars in Yaya’s March Cara box.  It was a slightly different recipe than the one I am using today. (Maybe slightly improved…. sorry Yaya….)

You’ll need:

Ribbon
Construction paper
Quart sized mason har (or similar)

1 1/4 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
2/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups of sugar

Mix your dry ingredients together and put into your jar.  Decorate your jar.  Add a label or a note that described how the person makes their brownies.  This recipe for example reads:

To enjoy your brownies preheat your oven to 350 F.  Then whisk 1 cup of melted butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 3 eggs together.  Pour in and stir the contents of your jar.  Spread the batter evenly into a pre-greased pan and bake for 22-25 minutes.  Enjoy!
