Christmas Playlist

I love the holidays (if you haven’t guessed by now). And as soon as we are actually moved into the new flat, I can’t wait to start making it look a bit festive.

Maybe you’re having a Christmas party and need playlist ideas? Or maybe you just want some festive music while you decorate your home? (Or while just hanging out on the weekend and want some Christmas jams to listen to?) But regardless of your reasons for a need for Christmas music, I’ve complied a list of some of my seasonal favourites!

We made our own ornaments last year out of blown eggs. This was Sam’s.

  • I like the songs you’ve listed, but I also love Wham, Last Christmas and George Michael, December Song.

  • The best Christmas song is Fairytale of New York by The Pogues.

    • That’s Sam’s dad’s favorite! We listened to it many times last year. The Pogues remind me of Christmas in General, actually! X

  • Confession: I never got to celebrate Christmas when I was growing up. Three years ago was the first time I ever celebrated Christmas in my home; and it was with Andrew. Now our tradition is to put up the tree while listening to Christmas music. So, I don’t have a favourite song since it’s still very new for me!

    • Since you didn’t grow up with it does it seem cheesy now as an adult? X

      • Honestly? The consumerism around Christmas REALLY bothers me (like with Valentine’s Day, etc.) but I like the idea of having an excuse to spend time with loved ones. That’s really important to me so I can overlook an cheesiness. 🙂

  • I love christmas! I adore it! Sometimes i expect to much magic from it and than i get disappointed 🙂

  • My favorite Christmas song is “Little Drummer Boy”. Actualy this is not my favorite Christmas song, I can’t help but dance when I hear “Feliz Navi da” but “Little Drummer Boy” is my moms favorite Christmas song and she always plays it when she is decorating the house. When i hear that song playing I instantly associate it with Christmas and all the fuzzy happy feelings you get when you think about those you love and the holidays:) Congrats on the new flat!

    • Thank you!!! And being from New Mexico I hear Feliz Navidad all the time. (I have it stuck in my head now…) x

I “luuurve” Christmas! (Do they still say that in England? I lived there for 5 years growing up!) my favorite song is The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole!

  • I love that you’ve included classic versions! Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerals and the like are so much more festive, as far as I am concerned. 🙂

  • Ohhh I have this as a note written in my iPhone; Make Christmas Play List Post! I’m in agreement of all of those. They’re the classics and the very best!! You did miss one though… I’m surprised too. It’s goofy and kind of has has Amanda written all over it. I’ll slap it on my play list when the time comes.. Mele Kalikimaka” Bing Crosby! One in particular that always chokes me up is Judy Garland’s “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”… soooo good.

    • I have a love for Judy Garland. Even though she’s a tragic figure. Hahaha now I really REALLY have Mele Kalikimaka stuck in my head! x

So many people have beef with Auld Lang Syne and The Christmas Song, but they’re two of my favourites! I’ll never understand…

  • Little Drummer Boy, David Bowie and Bing Crosby hands down. Just beautiful.

    • Little Drummer Boy is one of those Christmas songs that I get stuck in my head no matter what time of year it is! x

I love this list. All I Want for Christmas is You is my favorite.
