A Very Merry Christmas 2013 Recap

Happy last day of December, readers! Sam and I spent this Christmas together, just the two of us. It was the first time we had ever done so, and to be honest, I was really worried. Christmas is Sam’s birthday (as you now know) and I was worried that with just the two of us it wouldn’t be special enough. But I needn’t have feared because the day turned out gloriously!

On Christmas eve we watched films, drank bubbles and I gave Sam some birthday red velvet cupcakes and then at midnight we each opened a gift. I had so much energy and excitement for the next day that I had trouble going to bed- I am perpetually 7 years old!

We woke up bright and early on Christmas morning, opened gifts, drank mimosas ate bagels, finished reading the 3rd Harry Potter book to each other and then went out for a lovely Christmas walk around the neighbourhood.

After our walk, we spoke to Sam’s family and then started cooking! Then we sat down for our delicious meal. It was, in a word, a feast!

On our very first date, long ago, I explained the concept of being “iced” to Sam. He found it equal parts disgusting and hilarious. Every since then, over the years, I have occasionally iced him. How a Smirnoff ice made it’s way into his Christmas stocking I’ll never know……

party poppers
I got a little too excited about our post-dinner party poppers.

Yes, we did shoot these at each other throughout the day…

We Skyped with my family, drank more, ate more and watched some lovely Christmas films before going to bed. Then we woke up on Boxing Day and did the same again!
