ABCs of Me

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I’ve seen this little post floating around in the blogging world and I love a good personal survey a la Myspace in 2005 or Facebook at it’s beginning. Plus, there are a lot of new faces around these parts lately, so it’s a good way to learn a lot of useless facts about me quite quickly! And there’s no better fact than a useless fact.

(I also love my initials because they spell “AND”. A weird love, but a love nonetheless.)

A– Age: 25
B– Birthday: May 29
C– Colour: Duck egg blue (freakishly specific), and various shades of red and pink.
D– Drink: Diet Dr Pepper. Diet Coke, if I am saving money. Or champagne if I am lucky.
E– Eyes: Actually, this is weirdly a trick question for me. My eyes change colour between blue, grey and green depending on what I am wearing and what light they are reflecting.
F– Flashback: Spice Girls, giga-pets and chunky shoes.
G– Gents: Obviously Sam is my favourite man around. But if he were to trade me in for a newer model then I’d like karma to allow Ewan McGregor to fall for me as a consolation prize.
H– Hobby: Blogging. Reading (a lot). Baking. Cooking. Lusting over clothing I can’t buy.
I– Indulgence: Too many diet cokes, cookies ‘n’ cream flavoured anything, chips, salsa and guacamole. Watching too much TV.
J- Job: Actress and childcare provider extrodinaire.
K- Kiddos: I don’t even have a dog so a kid seems like a big stretch.
L– Love: is free, free is love.

M– Music: Indie folk (I just shook my head in shame.)
N– Nation: American by birth, but continuing to count down the years until I can naturalise into the UK and never have to apply for a visa again.
O– Overstock: Too many articles of clothing. My desire to downsize and live a more simplified life is at odds with my love of fashion.
P– Pets: I want a puppy so badly I can barely stand it. Or a panda.
Q– Quote: “Let me live, love and say it well in good sentences.” -Sylvia Plath
R– Residence: London
S– Siblings: One hilarious brother.
T– Temperature: Late spring/early summer all year long would be my ideal.
U– University: Emory University
V– Vehicle: Nothing in the UK, thanks to public transit. In America my first car was a Toyota Rav-4, followed by a Chevy Aveo.
W– Want: To buy a house because renting is wasting money. But I’d also like to travel all the time. These two wants are at war currently. I’d settle for a puppy. Or a new computer.
X– I can play the Xylophone. (No I can’t).
Y– Yuck: Worms. My greatest fear is worms.
Z– Zodiac: Gemini.

More from beautiful Cambridge.
If there were a Rhyme & Ribbons vlog in the making what questions would you like me to answer? I am an open book! I’d love to know some random facts about my readers as well!

  • Okay were def long lost bffs! My birthday is May 29th too!! The similarities between us are getting eerily creepy:)

    • What?!?! Are you kidding? I’m not sure if it’s awesome or creepy or some sort of strange combination of both! (Happy Valentine’s Day!) x

  • That is a gorgeous satchel! Lovely post 🙂 x

    Beauty Scrapbook

  • O yes do a vlog! Also your bag/purse is exactly what I have been lusting after!

    • Amy @ the tide that left

Yeah I have the exact one (minus the initials) on my Pinterest!

      • I had been nerding out about it for years and then last year Sam bought me one for my birthday after my incessant hinting! x

  • Amy @ the tide that left

Do a vlog, do a vlog!! Tell us (and show us?) about the contents of your handbag. What do you consider to be your greatest achievement so far? Which character in a book do you feel is most like you? What super powers would you like, what would your superhero name be, and what would your superhero outfit look like? What are your thoughts on hats? If you own some hats can we see them, please? How many different British accents can you do? i.e Cockney, Yorkshire, Scottish etc.

    • There are so many amazing suggestions here that I wouldn’t even know where to start. Except for my Cockney accent. No one wants to hear that. It makes me sound like the female Dick van Dyke. So maybe everyone wants to hear that….. Hmm…. x

      • Amy @ the tide that left

You don’t have to answer them all, but I figured I’d give you a lot of choice. You asked for random questions after all! I’d love to see your Dick Van Dyke!!

  • I vote vlog! A vlog tour of somewhere you’re going!

  • I’m with you on the panda….I want one!! And I also like your color is “freakishly” specific. That means you’re an interesting person, and I love that!!

  • Dena Barrie

Okay, May 28th here!!! From one Gemini to another…Great Blog!

  • I’m with everyone else! Do a vlog! 😀

  • I love that your eyes change colour! Mine do too! I feel like I said that to you before. If you can’t have a puppy, a panda seems reasonable.

My question to you, if you were to do a vlog is… where do you get all your cooking and baking inspiration from? Also, when are you coming to Toronto? That’s the more important question. For obvious reasons.

    • I’m so glad that you think that sounds reasonable! It’s not like I want a baby or anything… just a nice furry animal!

When am I coming to Toronto is the most important question of all! (Let me run out and buy a lotto ticket right now!) x

  • That`s so fun that your initials spell and!! It was interesting reading this, I like learning random facts about other people. You should definitely do a vlog, my questions are what was your best ever holiday and where in the world would you most like to visit??

  • Amanda I LOVE LOVE LOVE the bag in your first picture! I’m considering ‘borrowing’ this ABC game because it’s super cute. I’d love to see a vlog of American pronunciations vs. British ones… maybe you can get Sam to agree to help? Or random handsome men on the street? Give us American girls who would rather be across the pond some accents!

    • This is such a good suggestion. Sam likes to keep his blog presence to the bare minimum but maybe I’ll use the “it’s Valentine’s Day and I have a favour to ask card…” to talk him into it. Likewise with random men 🙂 x

  • Alice

Oh I love the Cambridge satchel! I lived there for 6 years and its one of my favourite places in the world still 🙂 even though I’m now only an hour away in Peterborough! Lovely pictures 🙂

    http://www.thriftyfirecracker.blogspot.co.uk

    • Thank you! There’s such a great atmosphere to Cambridge! Although I’ve never been to Peterborough soI can’t truly compare. xx

  • oh, let’s raise pandas together!

  • What absolutely stunning pictures!! Love your turquoise scarf in the last one. Happy Valentine’s Day!

    • Thank you! I hope you had a lovely Valentine’s Day too! i try to make my scarves as flamboyant as possible since my winter attire starts to feel really dreary round about now! x

  • Oooh a vlog so we can hear your voice! I love hearing other bloggers.. or seeing them in video. It’s so neat to see who you are.. after having e-mailed a zillion times..!
I would ask you which superhero would you be.. and it has to be one that already exists.. like- Wolverine or Spiderman. (Don’t worry those aren’t your only to choices..;) )
Random fact about me: An old man mouthed the words ASSHOLE when I drove by him one day. I followed him into the parking lot (by vehicle) jumped out and confronted him. I was not going to let some old man call me an asshole and not tell me why!! And for the record- I told him that I am a very nice person, that I may have been driving a bit fast, but that I didn’t do it because i am an irresponsible driver and that that certainly does not make me an asshole. He apologized and we were good.

    • Remind me to never yell at you in road rage (kidding of course!) How far did you follow him though? I sound like a child so prepare yourself for that…. x

      • Oh not far at all! He was walking into a parking lot. I just parked on the other side and met him by foot. He was holding a bouqet of flowers so I knew who he was. AND- that’s why he caught me off guard because I was busy admiring his flowers and wondering who they were for.. when he mouthed ASSHOLE. LOL!!
Subject: Re: New comment posted on Rhyme & Ribbons: ABCs of Me

        • Did he try to justify it? x

          • He said he thought I was driving too fast. I told him that I was a very responsible driver And that it was possible that I was driving a bit fast (for him) but it was because I was admiring His flowers. It went like this “maybe I was driving a little fast. ” he said,” I should not have Called you an asshole”. Then I poked him in the chest and said we good? He said yes. Lol. No idea why I poked him but I did!! Lol

  • You hate worms? I think they are my best friends in the garden, so I love them. Well… Earth worms. Some of those other worms are a little scary. For the record, I wish we could trade places in the photos! 🙂

    • I think sustainable gardens etc are super important and I’d love to have an allotment in London and I know how important earthworms are….. but they are still one of my irrational fears, I don’t know why they freak me out so much, but they really do! The way they move, the fact that they are blind… the list goes on and on! But thank you! It was actually frigid when those photos were taken but Cambridge itself is so stunning! x

  • Um, hello, why has it taken me so long to find your blog?! I agree with you on everything except temperature. Late summer and the very beginning of fall all the way. 🙂

    • Ha, thank you so much! Well, I like the colours in early fall. (And anything pumpkin spice flavoured) So I can agree that time of the year has it’s benefits too 🙂 x

  • bethany

This is great! I want to do one, too now! I didn’t realize you were an actress… do you talk about it much? I feel like I should’ve known that! Also I applied to Emory University! I ended up staying in my own state because it was cheaper.

I love the scarf you are wearing. And I love your eyes. Now I’m going to play “guess the color” whenever I see a new pic of you. 🙂

    • Thank you to all of the above! No, I never talk about work much! When I am not acting I work with kids, so I don’t blog about that for privacy reasons, and it’s hard to blog about theatre, etc without giving too much away. Plus I’m not working on anything right now. Sam’s a working actor as well, but again I don’t really mention it much!

I loved my time at Emory, but it is so so SO expensive. Where did you go instead? x

      • bethany

Have you heard of Centenary College in Louisiana? It was TEENY. I lived just a few hours away and hadn’t ever heard of it!
It was really expensive, too. The ONLY reason I ended up going there was because I got a full tuition scholarship. If I hadn’t, there’s no way I would have gone!
A note about working with kids… I’m a high school teacher (well, now I’m a stay-at-home mom), and I only occasionally posted about the kids. Thing is, my kids were old enough to have their own social networks. But I never shared pictures. I see other bloggers sometimes sharing pictures of classes of kids. I’m sure nothing would happen, but it makes me a little paranoid! Good for you 🙂

  • LOVE the quote!

  • Haha that is super exciting! I loved it as a kid because we’d usually have a three day weekend and school would be out. The best birthday time ever, right?! 🙂 xx
