Recipes || How to Bake a Heart Shaped Cake

In honor of rapidly approaching Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d show you how to make a heart shaped cake without a heart shaped pan. And trust me, it is simple. There’s no need to own such a pan.  If you have one, throw it away. Just kidding, that’s bad for the environment and a waste of money. If you have one, just skip reading this post.

A lovely heart.

There are two important things that you need:

A square pan
A round pan

Mix up your favourite cake batter and split it between the two different types of cake tins. Bake according to your recipe. After the cakes have cooled remove them from the pans.

See how easy?

Now, once your cakes have cooled arrange them into the shape below. The square cake is at a diamond  angle, and the round cake has been cut in half. If the halves of the round cake are bigger than the edges of the diamond, just trim a bit of gently.

It’s a piece of cake! (Wah, wah I love puns.)

Then frost your cake to cover the gaps and no one will ever know this cake wasn’t baked whole. (I baked mine in a hurry to surprise Sam so you can see that my frosting isn’t the smoothest this time.)
