ABCs of Spring

It feels very strange to me to be spending spring in London this year. Last year, for the first half I was in  Stratford, and then for the last half I was stuck in America waiting for my visa. The previous year I was in London, but in the midst of my MA course trying to figure out what the hell my thesis was going to be. I can’t wait for this year though. It’s my favourite season, and my favourite time to be in London!

Arcade Fire is playing in London at the end of the spring. I’d love to get tickets, but I’m also not made of money. Maybe it’s something to save towards?

Boris bikes. Neither of us own bikes, so I’d really like to rent some Boris Bikes this spring and ride them around town.
Cleaning. That’s right, I look forward to Spring Cleaning. I find it really refreshing to sort through and organise my life.
Daffodils are in bloom all over England in the Spring! I use it as an excuse to buy them cheaply every week. You can usually get a daffodil bouquet for only £1!
Easter. Last year we spend Easter in Stratford-upon-Avon. In 2012, London. Who knows what we’ll be doing this year.
Fly a kite? Why not!
Garden or plant what little I can in the pots that fit on our windowsill. I’m thinking herbs though it’d be lovely to have some flowers!
Hampstead Heath. As soon as the weather turns warm, I love wandering around Hampstead Heath. I think I’ll wait till summer to go swimming in the Heath ponds though.
Ice cream. It’s the season for it! Finally! And this year after years of saying I will, I will definitely finally get around to trying a ’99’.

Luckily, I’ll still be wearing fabulously soft cashmere sweaters like this one from Repeat Cashmere because it’s so soft and breathable.

Join a dance studio and start getting my butt in gear again.
Kew Gardens. I will visit them. I’ve been saying it forever, but I insist now.
Learn to use the DSLR better. I’m doing alright so far, but I need to just set some time aside to work everything out.
May 29. Aka my birthday. Yes it’s narcissistic, but my birthday is one of my favourite days of the year.

Nutella. I’ll be able to eat it again after Lent is over. It has been mightily missed already.
Oxford v. Cambridge Boat Race. It’s Sam’s tradition to watch, therefore, I know we will. Although I am very glad that I was watching the year the protester swam across the river disrupting the match, angering multitudes and amusing me.
Picnics. I love ’em. I know lots of people have an aversion to eating outdoors (bugs, dirt, etc) but not me!
Quizzes. We’ve had a consistent weekly invite to a pub quiz with friends we just haven’t gone yet.
Romeo and Juliet is at the English National Ballet this summer and I’d love to go. Plus Sam has never been to the ballet and I think he’d like it.

Sunshine. This has been the rainiest winter in England in about 100 years. Please bring on some sun. Without exaggerating, I don’t remember what it’s like to get out of the shower and not shiver! I miss it so much!
Tate Modern is playing host to a Matisse exhibit that I’d love to see!
Under the Thames! Make the walk through the Greenwich Tunnel from The Isle of Dogs to the Cutty Sark.
Visit the Karl Lagerfeld flagship London store when it opens. I won’t be able to afford anything, but it makes some nice fantasy shopping.
Warm weather walks. I love spending time outside on super long walks. It’s loads of exercise without even realising it.
Xylophone band practice continues.
Yoga in the sunshine. Our sitting room gets loads of light when the weather is nice so I look forward to rolling out my yoga mat and start getting in shape again.
Zoo trip to see the pandas in Edinburgh.

Being a monster in the park. A spring tradition. Strike that. An every day occurrence.
What are you looking forward to this spring?
