Champagne Cork Initials

Some people save their wine corks. I save champagne corks. Sam and I drink wine on a regular basis so saving those corks don’t necessarily denote important occasions between the two of us. However, when we drink bubbles it’s usually for a holiday or special event or celebration! I always write down the date on which and occasion for which we opened the bottle on the cork.
But after awhile all those corks really start taking up room in my drawers. That’s when I start crafting with them.

There’s opening night of the RSC’s Hamlet, for example
You’ll Need:
Lots of champagne corks
Permanent marker for writing on the corks
Hot glue gun

Once you have enough corks to make whatever shape you desire, lay them all out in the pattern before you ever start gluing. Because of the odd shape of fizz corks you’ll have to alternate how you lay them out. (One fat side, one smaller side, etc). I also try to always arrange them so you can see the dates and occasions still. Then start gluing! Once your shape is dry then start peeling off any excess hot glue strings.

As you can see we don’t always drink the classiest fizz, but we enjoy it regardless.
