It’s pretty obvious by now that I have an inner Bruce Bogtrotter (from Matilda), and a vicious sweet tooth. I’m pretty sure that everyone by now has either tried, seen, or pinned a recipe for the Oreo truffles (which are crushed Oreos mixed with cream cheese dipped in Bark). While this is them, minus the chocolate coating, stuffed inside a chocolate chip cookie. Yep. I went there. And it was good.
Chocolate Chip Oreo Stuffed Cookies
In all their glory.
(Recipe from Picky Palate)
2 sticks of softened unsalted butter
3/4 cup of sugar
3/4 cup of brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon of vanilla
3 1/2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 cups of chocolate chips
(For oreo balls)
3 oz of cream cheese
Preheat oven to 350 F. Cream together the butter and sugars until thoroughly combined. Beat in eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, shift together the remaining dry ingredients. Then mix in the wet ingredients. Lastly, fold in the chocolate chips.
Put the oreos in a food processor (or put them in a ziplock bag and smash them with a rolling pin) until they are finely ground. Mix in the cream cheese until a dough is formed. Take 1 tablespoon of Oreo dough and roll it into a ball.
Scoop out even amounts of cookie dough onto your cookie sheets. Make little depressions in the center of each cookie for the oreo ball. Then work the cookie dough up and round the oreo balls until they are covered. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
