The title quote is the work of Jen Bervin. (Actually it’s her erasure of Shakespeare’s sonnet 130), and in many ways, it is completely unrelated to this post. Except for the fact that it is light-filled and warm in our flat again, and Sam is going to be gone most evenings with the show, giving me lots of time to procrastinate writing poetry again. But I have been thinking about erasures a lot lately and I think there is something brewing in my mind that direction….
The fantastic Emma from Ji Ji Kiki, who was last month’s featured sponsor sent me this beautiful dress to review. All opinions about it are my own, and to be blatantly honest, I picked out which dress from the collection I wanted. Everything from Ji Ji Kiki is reasonably priced so I’d encourage everyone to have a look at the website. It was packaged with love, fit like a dream and was great quality. It was warm enough to wear it outside the other day and I was thoroughly in a spring frame of mind with my simple styling.
Sam and I obnoxiously photo-hogged Crystal Palace Park so that you can see this fabulous dress in action. I’m extraordinarily lucky that Sam LOVES taking photos and doesn’t need to be bribed into it. After a glut of narcissism, we headed out to Green Park (a park filled day!) to have a farewell picnic with a friend who is moving back to America. It’s sad to see him go, but all the best to him, his wife and their awesome baby Stateside.
Dress: c/o Summer on the Riviera Striped Dress. Tights: TopShop (similar). Shoes: Converse. Sunglasses: Ray Ban Wayfarer. Necklace 1: Dogeared.
If it’s immature to take jumping pictures than I’d always rather be considered immature.
I broke the chain of the necklace I wear everyday (I don’t take it off for sleeping, showering, etc. No wonder it broke.) So it was time to break out the old stand-in: The Harry Potter necklace. Too much?
Presenting Sam with all the treasure I’d found around me in the park.
(I figure I might as well not hide the fact that I make derp-derp faces 90% of the time.)
I like a man who believes that it’s never too early in the year to rock espadrilles.
Then we got on the trusty bus to switch park locations. Luckily the weather held so that we could all spend a few hours outdoors with this guy before everyone parted ways.
Man’s best friend.
