New at the National Theatre

As you know by the amount of tweeting and internet time I have, I’ve been spending most weekday evenings alone. This will continue until late into the summer as Sam is in the cast of “A Small Family Business”. I anxiously awaited seeing the show, forgoing seeing it last week during previews to wait the finalised version that would be presented on Press Night. Before opening night at the RSC I did an explanatory post on terms like press night/ 1st preview etc if you’d like to see the nitpicky difference between theatre in the US and over here.

(*sidenote* A pet peeve of mine is seeing blogging reviews of shows before Press Night. Until Press Night in the UK a show is still liable to undergo drastic changes and cuts so preview review doesn’t actually reflect a true state of the current show.)

It would be unfair and biased for me to say how good it is, right? I was so proud to see Sam up there last night.  So I shall say this: if you’re in the mood for a classic comedy with an edge book tickets to go see it. Actually, book tickets to go see it anyway.

The red addition on to the building is “The Shed”. It was put up as a temporary space whilst other parts of the building are undergoing reconstruction.
