Q&A with Angie Silverspoon

I have such a treat for you today! I’d like to introduce you to the incredibly sophisticated (and lovely) Angie from Silverspoon London. And for those of you who already know her, hopefully you’ll learn something new!

Q&A with Angie
1. What motivated you to start blogging?

I started my blog in order to promote an events management business I was working on; soon I discovered how much I loved blogging and separated it from the business. I gave the blog it’s own name, bought a template from Etsy and I was off! I think it takes a while to settle into blogging, you might say you need to find your voice, but actually it’s when you stop looking for your voice that it all begins to flow naturally. I love writing and this is the year I want to really work on my photography; I’ve bought a new camera, I’ve booked on to course and I’m studying other blogs for inspiration.

2. What’s the one thing that really surprised you about blogging?

I knew that there were many other bloggers out there in the bloggersophere but I didn’t know that it would be such a tight knit community. I love being part of it, the bloggers I’ve met in real-life or via social media are all wonderful people and I really enjoy the way that we appreciate each other’s writing, share content and communicate regularly.

3. What inspires you personally?

In terms of the blog, I definitely get inspiration from other bloggers for content, photography and design. I read many other blogs on a regular basis, I’m slightly addicted, fortunately it’s saved me lots of money on buying magazines.

My biggest dream is to travel the world, though I couldn’t live as a nomad for months, I’d miss my home comforts. When I was younger my grandmother used to tell us stories about her travel adventures and show us her huge collection of photographs, she’d been everywhere and I used to think ‘I’ll do that one day…’

4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

After getting married last year, starting a family is definitely on the horizon in the next couple of years. I want to continue with my blog and with travelling so there will certainly be an evolution in content when Mr S and I start having children.

5. Who is your biggest style inspiration?

I’m sorry to say I don’t have a style inspiration! I’m very simple with my fashion, I just whack on a dress and a pair of heels and I’m ready to go!

6. What would your perfect London based weekend look like?

It’s definitely one spent eating, drinking and shopping! I love spending time with my husband, Mr Silver, so he’d definitely be by my side…we’d start the day right with coffee and smoked salmon bagels at the perfect brunch spot, somewhere like the Wolseley. After some serious shoe shopping on Mount Street we’d get a cocktail at the Connaught followed by a light seafood and champagne lunch at Scott’s – my favourite fish restaurant in London. I love getting my hair done for a night out, so I’d get a blow dry before heading out for a night on the town with Mr S!

7. You’ve traveled all over – what’s your favourite place you’ve ever traveled to and your top future destination?

The best place I’ve been to is Australia; my husband and I travelled around the vast country for about five weeks back in 2012. I felt so in awe of how a country can be so diverse. We climbed mountains, trekked the rain forest, visited the desert, shopped in the city and lay on the beach all in one country. The food there is incredible and I tried so many different things that I’d never heard of before.

And for the future? In just over a month’s time I’ll be heading to South Africa, the country has been my dream destination for years…we’ll be exploring Cape Town, visiting the Winelands and best of all, going on Safari!

8. What’s your favourite form of social media? (Instagram, pinterest, twitter, facebook, etc)

I am literally addicted to Twitter, I pick up my phone and check it first thing in the morning and then I can’t get off all day. When I trying to write posts it always distracts me! I love the fact that you can interact with other bloggers so easily on a daily basis. It also give you direct access to brands, restaurants and chefs that you just could never have before the advent of social media.

9. What are your favourite London restaurants ?

I really love Asian food and my two favourites are Roka and Hakkasan. Both have a cool, slick interior, a buzzy atmosphere and amazing food! In the last year I’ve really enjoyed the trend for Peruvian and Nikkei food and two of my favourites are Lima and Chotto Matte. I just love the fresh, clean flavours in that type of food.

10. If you could only name one thing in London for a tourist to do, what would it be?

If you’re looking for a taste of London under one roof, you can’t go wrong with heading to Harrods! Not only is it an iconic destination in itself, but you can pick up all your souvenirs and have a classic British roast dinner or afternoon tea. Just don’t go at peak times!
