Q&A with Sara from Of Golden Roses

Today  have a Q&A with Sara from Of Golden Roses. I’m quite sad that Sara and I never had the chance to meet while she was in the UK because I think we have a lot in common. Hopefully you all will enjoy learning a bit about her as well!

1. What motivated you to start blogging?

I began blogging the same way most travel bloggers begin; I wanted to update my friends and family of my life abroad without bombarding people with Facebook posts. I have always loved writing and photography and as my skills developed my blog did as well! Blogging has become more than life updates, it’s become my favorite hobby! I can’t imagine life without snapping a million photos everywhere I go now!

2. What’s the one thing that really surprised you about blogging?

The community is absolutely amazing! I was so surprised to find a community of bloggers who had such similar interests. To become friends with people who live on the other side of the world is truly amazing!
3. What/who inspires you personally?

Travel is the biggest inspiration in my life and I try to surround myself with an environment that fits that lifestyle. However, some personal inspirations include the three Emmas: Emma Roberts, Emma Watson, and Emma Stone. Style, class, and intelligence are all qualities in these women that inspire me greatly!

4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

This is such a hard question! As a person who gets restless from staying put, I really have no idea where I’ll end up. For all I know I could be moving abroad again within the next year! Life is full of possibilities and I’m excited to see what the future has in store for me!

5.  What would your perfect weekend look like?

I recently had a weekend that came pretty close to being perfect. I flew to Nashville just for two nights to visit one of my very closest friends. Having never been to Nashville we spent the weekend visiting museums, walking through gardens, and drinking plenty of wine.

6.  What do you miss most about the UK?

Besides my boyfriend? Because that’s pretty obvious. 😉 I miss having some of the world’s most beautiful places a train ride away. England is such a wonderful country and there is so much to see! I miss spending my days exploring somewhere new and beautiful.

7.  You’ve lived all over- what are the best lessons all those places have taught you?

The biggest lesson I learned from living both abroad and back home is that any destination plays an important role in who you are, so take advantage of that! You can create a home anywhere in the world but it’s what you decide to do in that home defines you. So, my advice to you is to explore your city as much as possible. You’d be surprised at how independent and adventurous you can become by just exploring your own backyard!

8.  What’s your favourite form of social media? (Instagram, pinterest, twitter, facebook, etc)

Right now it’s Instagram. I love photography and Instagram is such a fun social media platform for those who love scrolling through pictures! I recently took an Instagram class taught by the lovely Whitney Blake and it really inspired me to put more work into the photos I take and publish!

9.  Where is the next destination you’d like to travel to?

Next week I’m going to New Orleans, but I’d love to finally visit Amsterdam! It has been on my travel to do list for ages but I think a trip may be in the works sometime in the future!

10.  If you could only ever shop at one store, what would it be?

I’m a firm believer in spoiling yourself. My guilty pleasure when it comes to spoiling myself has to be Lush. From bath bombs to body scrubs, there’s nothing more relaxing than pampering yourself with Lush products!
