Cooking with Neff

Last week, I had the exciting opportunity to go to the Neff showroom in Milton Keynes. In theory, this might not sound super exciting, but it really was! Neff is a kitchen goods brand famous for one thing in particular – their hide and slide oven doors made famous by a show that I may or may not be doing a bake along link up with…

Several bloggers and I met at Speaker’s Corner in Hyde Park in the early morning to get on a coach that took us to the showroom. Once we arrived there, we were immediately stuffed with food and the feeding didn’t end until we left. Snacks, lunch, afternoon tea – you name it, we ate it. In between stuffing my face, I actually learned about the brand itself, had a play with some of their equipment and had some cookery lessons.

It needs be said that all of us bloggers cooked the food that we ended up eating for lunch and tea. I was on station “tarts” and felt exceedingly proud of them. But the ladies on the boar patty station excelled. The grilled boar with sautéed apples and onions was sublime.

I had a blast sliding those dang doors in and out. But it wasn’t just gadget related, we received a pretty awesome cooking lesson and had the opportunity to pick the brains of the Neff recipe testers. Neff got their start 135 years ago in Germany, focusing on ovens for bakers. They’ve been leading the way since. And I love their motto: Cooking inspires people, people inspire us.

The biggest cooking takeaway/tip for the day for me was that unless you are baking something with a really quick rise, like scones or Yorkshire puddings then preheating is completely unnecessary and it’s just a waste of energy.

You can read Neff’s blog post on the event here.
