Life Lately || 10 Happy Things

Before we start speaking about things that have made me happy this week, may I complain about how awful the weather has been lately?! I think I’ve gotten caught in the rain nearly every day this week, but Wednesday was particularly bad! It’s also been really cold in our flat already and I’m yearning to turn the heaters on, but I refuse to do so before the beginning of October.

But besides the weather, life has been pretty great lately!
sponge and cream week

I enjoyed having Lindsay here the past two weeks so much. I even managed to commandeer her for an entire day of wedding dress shopping. I feel that I monopolised her time in London, but at the same time, I still feel like I didn’t see enough of her. It was sad to say farewell, but I know she’ll be back to England soon.

I attended the #BettysTeaParty, where Bettys Tea Rooms, the Yorkshire staple came down to London for the day. It was fabulous and I can’t wait to share my photos from the day.

I got an amazing behind-the-scenes at my long-standing favourite, Chipotle. I even learned how to make their signature guacamole, and whilst the recipe is different from my own, it’s still my favourite guacamole to buy in London.

I received this gorgeous Flower Queen necklace above from the Happiness Boutique. It’s incredibly intricate, and it’s a statement necklace, for sure. I only wear really simple earrings and rings, and never wear bracelets, so I like to have a bit of fun with my necklaces. This one definitely ticks all the right boxes. I love that it has a vaguely vintage feel to it as well.  My piece arrived in the post incredibly quickly and it was clearly packed with love and care. The Happiness Boutique offers free shipping, has a rewards program and have bi-monthly giveaways. An all around great company! I can’t wait to wear this necklace again soon.

I attended a great #Zomeeto at Sponge and Cream in Brixton and got a crash course in decorating cupcakes for Halloween. It was great fun, and I realised that I’d lost some of my childhood playdoh skills with working with fondant sculptures. Paulina’s lovely cake was incredibly. I particularly recommend the surprising Butternut Squash and Marshmallow Cake – it’s so moist and delicious! The photo of the pumpkin cupcake in the collage at the top was one that I made myself.

I received a fabulous parcel from the Hatch Green Chile Company, the only people that really provide New Mexican Hatch Green Chile to those who live outside of New Mexico. If you’ve never had a Hatch Chile, you’re missing out. They are amazing. And good on everything, breakfast eggs, pizza, cheeseburgers….I’m salivating just thinking of them.

On Tuesday evening, we had a team-building evening. We were surprised with a “fun-activity.” To be honest, I’m always a bit wary of surprises and I was delighted to turn up at the activity location to find that we were going to play one of the live escape room games together. I had an absolute blast. I love puzzles and treasure hunts so it was precisely the kind of thing that I could do all day long. I want to go back with Sam and a group of friends now.

house of fraser christmas preview
Yesterday, I attended the House of Fraser Christmas Preview. As we are now in the under 100 day countdown to Christmas, I am already getting excited to be festive. (Our local Sainsburys is already selling mince pies though, which seems crazy!) House of Fraser had some great stocking stuffer ideas. In particular, I loved the set of Kiehl’s skincare products and the Michael Kors wallet.

I had a great lunch with the people at Vital Ingredients at Baker Street. I left feeling super full, but spectacularly healthy after my salad and superfood lunch. I really recommend getting their carrot and ginger juice. It was delicious! I opted to create my own salad, but I heard that the Cobb salad and the Nachos Grande salad are the two best-sellers.

After getting Lindsay’s input on wedding dresses the week, I might be ready to “say yes to the dress”. My only problem is that I’m afraid I haven’t shopped around enough and that I need to try on more. How much wedding dress shopping is too much?

I’ve blogged before about what a massive Halloween buff I am, and that goes hand-in-hand with a love for scary movies. Sam and I went to see “The Visit” the new M. Night Shyamalan film. Whilst it was nowhere near the greatness of “The Sixth Sense” it was definitely a step up from the past few films he’s made!

What’s been the highlight of your week so far?
