Recipes || Aperol Spritz

The first time I ever had an Aperol Spritz it was in the dead of winter. Sam and I were celebrating our 1st Valentine’s Day together, and we were at Polpo long before there was a Polpo on every corner of Central London. I loved it. I sucked down a classic summer beverage in the dead of winter and I was happier for it.

Last summer an Aperol Sprtiz became the “hip” drink of the summer and sales skyrocketed. I blame hipsters who substituted this Italian aperitif for the classic British Pimms.  It’s almost dangerously refreshing.

So I’m saying “so long!” to the summer with one last classic warm-weather cocktail.

  • This sounds like the perfect summertime drink! Maybe we should make it a thing that we drink them in the winter time to beat the winter blues and pretend it is summer:)

  • This sounds quite delicious! It’s weird because I don’t think anything orange flavoured if it’s not morning – but there is something about fizzy orange drinks that makes it okay! And hum I’d have prosecco all day…or maybe that’s the British influence πŸ˜‰

    • It doesn’t taste too orangey- not at like a mimosa. I taste the rhubarb in it more…I think. It’s a lot like Campari! xx

    Wow, this looks really good. Can you get aperol in America? I love Pimms. I find it very few and far between here.

  • Why have I not had this? Looks delicious! I will consume anything that is orange because it’s usually tasty. I won’t, however, wear orange. Just how I roll…x
