Last week, we posted the last link up for the #bakeoffbakealong 2015. I think it’s safe to say that Victorian Week was my least favourite week ever, and I’ve been baking along for 2 years now. I’d rather make that dang dobos torte from last year all over again than attempt anything Victorian.
I think I enjoyed my baguette the most, but I enjoyed eating the frangipane tart. For the finale, I posted my Bakewell Tart Cake, but let’s take a look back on the other 9 bakes.
Week 1: Almond Madeira Cake
Week 2: Pistachio and White Chocolate Biscotti
Week 3: Baguettes
Week 4: Creme Brûlée
Week 5: Dairy Free Cookies ‘n’ Cream Icecream Roll
Week 6: Apple Frangipane Tart
Week 7: Chocolate Charlotte Russe
Week 8: Pistachio Religieuse
Week 9: Chocolate Peanut Butter Tart
To give you a little behind the scenes look at what goes on in our home whilst I’m baking along; there’s a lot of waiting.
There’s a lot of outtake photos that involve cross-dressing. When the framing for photos is off, it’s really, really off:
Of course, I need to thank Sam. Without him there’d be no Bake Along. He’s shelled more pistachios then one man ever should. He’s been my willing guinea pig. He’s Mary Berry-ified himself 19 times now. And he’s also calmed me down from the edge when I’ve been about to get hysterical over a bake.
And today’s big news: I have the absolute pleasure of announcing Hannah of A Bond Girl’s Food Diary as our winner. Week after week she’s impressed us with her immaculate bakes and her interesting flavour combinations.
Hannah wins our fabulous Mason Cash package from House of Fraser worth over £60. There’s some beautiful kitchen scales, a Mason Cash cake pop set, a Mason Cash gingerbread man set, and a Mason Cash flour shaker.
And also a big congratulations to our runner up: Kat from The Baking Explorer. Kat wins a fab goody bag brought to you by Dr Oetker!
Many of you linked up, and there were so many hilarious, delicious and beautiful bakes out there that kept us smiling for the past 10 weeks. This link up would have been nothing without every single one of you, whether you linked up once or linked up every week makes no difference. I think I saw everyone grow as bakers and so many of you could be future contestants on Bake Off and have crazy good baking skills. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
As much as I love Bake Off, it’s a relief not to have to bake to a strict schedule anymore and to not have to set up the “tent” every weekend. My duvet cover is tired of being tacked up on the wall and will enjoy a rest. But I don’t regret a minute I’ve spent baking along this year, and I’m looking forward to next year already.
Hopefully, I’ll see you all back again.
