A Year in Review || Looking back on 2015

2015 was a crazy year for me. Like everyone else’s year, it definitely had it’s peaks and troughs but all in all it was a wonderful year.

Here are my top 10 favourite occurrences of 2015:

year in review

>>>Getting engaged has to top this list, right? Wedding planning is well underway and it seems crazy that we’ve been officially engaged for almost an entire year. Sam picked up his wedding ring from the shop last week and we only have about 7 months to go. Hurray. Here’s my post on how Sam officially popped the question

>>> I managed to read a lot of books this year. I set myself a goal of reading 50 books this year and I surpassed my own goal by reading 69. (68 new ones and 1 re-reading of an old favourite.) I might set myself the goal of 70 for next year!

>>> I made health a priority this year. I emphasised clean eating, started an exercise regime, and actually went to the doctor for check ups. It’s gotten to the point where we only eat meat about 2 days a week, and I don’t particularly miss it those other 5 days.

>>> Rhyme & Ribbons turned 2 years old in 2015! I tend to pick up and drop hobbies, so it’s an incredible testament to how much I love blogging that I blogged nearly every week, 5 days per week, for the past 2 years.

>>> I might not be the most career-driven person, but getting promoted at work sure was a sweet perk to this year. Plus my brother was offered an incredible job, so it was good news all around for us!

>>> Getting lots of loved ones together for our engagement party this past summer was wonderful. We had the perfect day. And Taylor Lautner attending it for part of the day was a pretty sweet perk to this year as well. (Here’s our engagement party post).

>>> I got to attend some amazing events this year: from craft fairs to food fairs and everything in between! My two personal favourites were attending Royal Ascot (where I finally saw the Queen in person) and seeing the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the V&A

>>> My only foreign travel this year was to Paris, but I explored England quite a bit. I’ve traveled through the Cotswolds, Oxford, Brighton, Sedberg, Scarborough, Guildford, Battle, Hastings, Groombridge, Erridge, Frant, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Stratford-upon-Avon, Clevedon, Bath, Stonehenge and Egham all this year.

>>> Another year and another season of the Bake Off Bake Along is long behind us. It might not sound like much but I’m incredibly proud that I managed to bake along to every single week in the GBBO again this year. And I loved having Ala as my partner in crime/hosting.

>>> This year I also started my foray into vlogging. Personally, I have loads of fun making my videos, but they take loads of time (that’s why they don’t happen very often.) But you can catch up on any that you have missed on my youtube page.

But aside from any blog posts linked in my highlights of the year (the engagement ones definitely would overlap) here’s my list of my favourite blog posts of the year! In no particular order:

1. Paris at Night
2. BBQ Chicken and dressed potatoes recipe
3. Bettys Tea Party
4. The story behind my engagement ring
5. Musings on Finding the One (Wedding Dress)
6. Butternut Squash Cake recipe
7. The Bright Red Hair Reveal
8. My Love Affair with Gothic Romance
9. How to Wear Tulle (in Paris)
10. Basil chicken curry with coconut lime rice recipe

What’ve been the highlights of your year?
