London || Winter Wonderland

I always find it crazy impressive how Hyde Park transforms into Winter Wonderland for the 6 festive weeks (Nov 20-Jan 3) over the holidays. Every year it seems bigger and bigger, and once it’s broken down you can only see the faintest outlines on the crushed grass to see where the metal walkways were, and the bald spots in the grass where hot food tents were.

I can easily say that this year’s visit was the best so far: I think we’ve finally cracked when to go and not have it be too crowded to enjoy (which has DEFINITELY happened in the past). Don’t go on a weekend, and do go before schools break for Christmas. We went on a Friday evening at around 7pm in the second week of December and it was the perfect level of business.

I know that I said some mean things about the crowds and the food at Winter Wonderland in my post on Winterville last week, but I will always have a special spot in my heart for the Hyde Park Mega Beast of a Fair. Going is now one of Sam and my Christmas traditions, and I’d never skip it.
