Life Lately || Updates

Wowzers, where did all this cold weather come from? I’ve been shivering the night away most evenings this week. (I suppose it’s what I deserve for feeling smug about winter’s mildness so far!)

>>> Sam’s adorable baby nephew came back after a month away for the holidays. I managed to get some excellent snuggles in over the weekend and to my shock (and slight horror) he’s not really a baby anymore. Bring on the toddler years!

>>> I hate vague teaser messages where you want to shake the blogger and say, “if you aren’t going to tell us then don’t mention it at all?” But now I am going to. Something so exciting happened to me this week that I was grinning ear to ear for hours afterwards and I had to take myself out for a walk to calm myself. But I can’t say anything else. (Before you start guessing, I’m not pregnant.) I’m writing it down because it made me happy, that’s all.

>>> We are going up north next weekend to visit the side of Sam’s family that we didn’t spend Christmas with. On the itinerary for the weekend is getting more exact measurements of our reception venue and doing some cake tasting (aka the part I’ve most been looking forward to!)

>>>Sam baked this week. This is shocking because he’s probably only baked one other time in his entire life. He was craving cookies and unfortunately I was too busy to provide. They turned out great though and he should give himself a huge pat on the back.

>>> TV has been destroying me lately: heartbreaking new episodes of “24 hours in A&E”, plus “The Undateables” leaves me a weepy mess. On the flip side, I’ve been able to get my trashy historical drama mojo back on with the return of “Reign”.

>>> I got my first bunch of daffodils at Sainsburys this week. It gives me hope that spring will come.

>>> I can now run 25 minutes without stopping. I still don’t enjoy it. But I can do it. And that’s a big step up from last weeks 20 minutes.

>>> Lastly, though not a positive update at all: I’d like to dedicate a moment to both Bowie and Rickman. It’s been a huge blow to the world this week to lose two amazing artists. I was stunned and heartbroken when I learned of Rickman’s passing yesterday.
