London || Hampstead

I teased you last week by mentioning in a post how much I loved Hampstead. I also reiterated this love when I posted about designing my own haunted walking tour of London. (Including some great pubs in Highgate.) But I decided that now is that time that you should be able to see what I see and fall in love with the area for yourself.

I sing the praises of South London endlessly, and I’d be loathe to give up my SE postcode, but if there’s one area that I’d do it for it would be Hampstead/Highgate. Of course, I would have to win the lottery for that to be an option, or be left an inheritance that I previously knew nothing of. Does anyone else fantasise about being the long-lost niece and only surviving relative of some grand dame living all alone in one of these massive North London abodes and being surprised with a letter stating that I’ve been willed it? Just me then?

You can’t go wrong with a day spend roaming around the area, as long as you include a stop in at the Holly Bush pub before you leave.

    I haven’t been to London for over 10 years but this really makes me want to go back! When I first went to London on my own when I was 18 I stayed in a hostel in Hampstead!

  • I haven’t been to Hampstead in so long! I’d forgotten how pretty it was – definitely need to make a return visit. Love your photos! 🙂

    • Thank you so much – the area did all the work for me though, when someplace is this gorgeous it makes it easier to photograph! xx

  • I used to sing with a company that rehearsed in Highgate, so I’ve spent many hours wandering around Highgate and Hampstead between calls – it’s such a lovely area to mooch around (although I’m still a South London girl at heart too, despite having made the move out of London a couple of years ago now) Love that wonky chimney!

    • Since moving to London properly I’ve only lived South of the river. (Tooting, Clapham Junction, Crystal Palace) and my heart probably belongs to the south…but…. the north can be lovely 😉 xx

  • Gorgeous photos! I just love this area of London 🙂 xo

    It’s so pretty! I miss London.

  • Very cool to sneak a peek at this area! I’ve only been to London twice but I feel like I read enough London bloggers to have actually heard of the Holly Bush pub on more than one occasion… how funny. Is it really quite famous then or well known to all?

    • It’s probably one of the most famous pubs in North London. There’s also the Spaniards Inn, in the area which is (in)famous as well! The Holly Bush is super cozy so it has a lot of appeal in the winter! x

  • What beautiful photos, now I want to visit Hampstead! You aren’t the only one to dream of being willed a fortune by a long-lost relative, though now my dream also involves being left a house in Hampstead….it would make a great book.

    I live not far from it, and every now and then, especially in the summer, I love to head up for a long walk and just potter around there. It’s so cute and quaint.
