Over the weekend, Sam and I spent a glorious evening outside of London in the Hampshire countryside with some of his friends who have escaped the hustle and bustle of the city. It was a weekend of great company, great food and lovely little ones; where wellies were actually needed.
I increasingly find myself being drawn to being outside the city; to be able to get some fresh air, having space to roam and not be crushed onto crowded buses and streets. Living in the country is definitely a dream that I think many Londoners have; to be close enough to the city to pop in for social occasions, but far enough away to have open space and village pubs around you. The rustic idyll is definitely, and rightly, romanticised!
I’m sure once you get used to the breathtaking scenery, the day-to-day existence of the rural idyll would be far from perfect, but from here it looks pretty good.
