Life Lately || 10 Things That Made Me Happy Recently

Happy Friday everyone! I missed my update last week so this week’s is a bit more densely packed than usual. The clocks move forward in the UK this weekend, and I hate losing that extra hour of sleep, but I love gaining that extra hour of light in the evening.

>>>Easter holiday weekend. A long bank holiday weekend in England is wonderful. Long live the 4 day weekend!

>>> Sam and I saw “The Witch” last weekend. It was wonderful and beautifully filmed. A truly new type of horror film- maybe more psychological thriller? One thing’s clear – I am so grateful that I’m not a pilgrim.

>>> I played Monopoly for the first time in years. I won.

>>> I may have organised my Sunday last weekend to make sure that I could watch “Best in Show” at Crufts. And I may or may not have cried because I thought the dogs were so beautiful…. Eric was robbed though.

>>> I went to ABQ London (the Breaking Bad pop up) with Emma. It was wonderfully wacky.

>>> I received some fabulous Easter goodies from Hotel Chocolat. I sampled the Easter Goody Bag with a salted caramel slab, raspberry egglets, scrambled pralines, caramel bunnies and 3 milk chocolate bunnies. The scrambled praline chocolates were my favourites, by the raspberry egglets were a very close second.

If you really want to treat someone with a great quality Easter egg this weekend, I HIGHLY recommend that you pop into your local Hotel Chocolat store.  Personally, I have my eye on the extra thick Rocky Road egg, if anyone is asking.

>>> I went to Windsor Castle with work on Saturday and whilst it was freezing, it was a lovely day.

>>>It is officially spring. Hip, hip hooray!

>>> I had a Waitrose gift card that needed spending and instead of taking the train or the bus to the store, I ran the 3 miles to the nearest Waitrose. It seemed like a huge accomplishment. Small steps, right?

>>> And some very exciting news: Sam and I are booked in to go to Edinburgh next weekend! I can’t wait! If you have any recommendations please pop them in the comments below!

Do you have special plans for the weekend? What are they? I am so happy to start eating sweeties again after Sunday!

I so enjoy reading your life lately post! I love Edinburgh and I’m determined to move there one day. What I can recommend is the Scottish Storytelling Centre. It is situated on the Royal Mile, I think. There is a bookstore, a storytelling wall and some great cake and coffee. It is just a great place to get a glimpse of all the stories Scotland has to offer. Oh, and the John Knox house is attached to it. I hope you enjoy the trip and I’m already looking forward to the pictures on the blog 🙂

  • Happy 4 day weekend!!! I have been lusting over all the big easter eggs in the stores and waiting till Monday to buy them on discount, half priced chocolate does not affect the scales as much I think! 😉

  • When will you be in Edinburgh exactly?! I’m headed to London from March 29 – April 2 (get back in the afternoon!). Would love to grab a coffee or drinks Saturday night/Sunday!!! 🙂

    • Friday – Sunday avo. It would be wonderful! Sam has a few things scheduled in so I’ll check our plans! xx

  • Hotel Chocolat is my fave – I wish that we had Hotel Chocolat in Canada!

  • The chocolate looks amazing, we don’t have it in my country but I would love to try it. Winning at monopoly is one of the most satisfying feelings haha. Have fun in Edinburgh! I’ve only been there once but I really enjoyed it – the Camera Obscura was one of my favourite experiences. xx

  • Edinburgh is just so lovely – make sure you wrap up warm!!

  • Who the hell wins at Monopoly? I though everyone just played until exhaustion took over and you find yourself waking up face down on the board with little plastic houses wedged in your face at odd angles? No? XD

    • Sam made some very foolish property decisions very early one. Plus I owned all the railroads. x
