Fashion || Mixing up Your Style Routine

George at ASDA set out a blogger challenge: Can you survive one week with no jeans? And though I’ve blogged before about how dresses are my staple item, it was still fairly challenging to forego them for an entire week. George was pushing bloggers to shed their style uniform and explore other options, and the offered a dress from their S/S16 collection.

I’m lucky enough that the office I work in is fairly laid-back, so as long as I look presentable, I can wear whatever I want to. If we are having a big meeting or networking event, I’d throw on a blazer and some smarter trousers, but I’ve definitely been known to wear jeans to work.

So here’s my weekly style diary.

Monday:

I love the cut of my first George dress pictured below in Monday’s outfit. I found it super flattering, and is exactly something that ‘d usually wear to work. Though since it’s late April, I had been hoping to venture out sans-tights, but the weather was not quite as obliging.

Tuesday:

I wore one of my trusty minimalist dresses to work on Tuesday. I do occasionally worry that it looks like a maternity dress, but it’s so perfect for sitting at my desk all day long that I cannot resist it. Plus the long sleeves keep my cosy, and my co-workers keep the office colder than I would chose.

Wednesday:

I hardly every wear skirts these days, so Wednesday really was a break from the norm for me, but I was running out of work appropriate dresses. I love this old skirt, I just find skirts and tops harder to suit my proportions than either dresses or jeans.

Thursday:

I was back into the groove on Thursday, proving yet again that I have a lot of stripes in my wardrobe. And I’m not really sorry about that. I bought this dress late last summer and I’m so glad that I did!

Friday:

Friday’s challenge was that I needed an outfit that could be dressed up or down. One of the unfortunate things when you work in Central London but live South of the river is that if you have plans after work there’s no going home to get ready for you. And I hate carrying around more things than I need, so I always make sure to wear outfits that I can tweak on days like that.

This George dress made it very simple and I was able to throw on my trusty leather jacket, pulling my hair up and adding some red lip stick meant I was ready for drinks with friends. Plus I love the metal details at the shoulders of this dress.

Saturday :

Usually the second I step through my front door I change into either pajamas or yoga pants, and on the weekend I hardly ever wear real clothing at all. It’s always jumpers and yoga pants, so it was a huge difference to wear dresses throughout the weekend.

And I have to say, it did feel nice being much more presentable whilst running errands and doing chores.

Sunday:

This denim dress was from George’s latest line and I think it’s my favourite of all the pieces that I received. It’s very on trend, but most importantly, super comfy. Whenever I feel extra comfortable in an outfit, my first immediate thought is, “Do I look like a soccer mom in this?” With this dress, I can confidently put my fears aside and lounge in comfort.

If you had to change up your weekly outfitting, what items would you swap? It was an interesting challenge and one I totally encourage you to try this month. If you do, use the hashtag #styleYOUniform so I can see your posts!
