Outfit || Bow ties & Victorian follies

Happy 1st of July everyone! It hasn’t quite felt very summery in England yet, but hopefully all the nice weather is being saved up for the end of July. Before I moved the the UK, I was a ModCloth addict. It’s just my aesthetic. But the international shipping + customs fee ended up making what is usually an already fairly expensive outfit, inaccessibly expensive. So I resigned myself to not shopping the likes again. And for the whole time I’ve been in the UK, I’ve never found a store that works as a perfect replacement. Joy the Store comes close sometimes, as does the Sugarhill Boutique, but nothing ever quite filled ModCloth’s shoes.

Until I found Miss Patina, and I fell in love. It wasn’t a case of what did I want to buy, it was more one of a, what wouldn’t I LOVE to buy! I was spoilt for choice and there wasn’t a single outfit on the site that I didn’t want. And this post is in no way sponsored. I just wanted to share my love of a new found brand with you. My favourite part of the outfit is the tiny bow tiny on the top. I’m a sucker for a good detail. But I also love how soft and sturdy the skirt is.

These photos were taken in London, believe it or not. Just a short jaunt from our home is Sydenham Hill Wood and in the middle of the woods is this old Victorian folly. Sydenham Hill Wood contains the last bit of the Great North Wood, one of the few ancient English woods in these parts. A folly is a building erected for literally zero peurpose other than a rich person’s whim. The Sydenham Hill Wood example is supposed to be a fake monastic ruin built in the Victorian era as a feature part of the garden in a local manor home. If I were to ever build a folly, I’d definitely go for a Hansel and Gretel gingerbread house look.

Look at my old lady hands. Whenever I am tired my veins pop out and this was after a bad night’s sleep of post-Brexit madness.
