George Colour Wheel Bedroom Makeover

Aside from the piles of books all over our living room (we have far more books than shelves) I consider myself a really tidy person. Perhaps annoyingly so. I’m definitely a “Monica”. I was reminded of this when my mom and brother were staying with us in the lead up to the wedding. Since there were 4 people in our tiny one bed-flat, a little tidiness made a huge difference to the chaos, and as soon as my brother started unpacking a bag, I’d sort his things away for him the second his back was turned. So when he turned back and was shocked to find everything in a proper place, my mom chimed in, “well you know your sister…” I fear that makes me difficult to live with.

There are sayings galore on pinterest and Facebook about how the most creative people have the messiest spaces. And maybe that’s true to a lot of people, but for my imagination to run free and for me to feel comfortable in a space I need to have organised it first.

When George at Asda launched their new #WheelofGeorge colour selector, I was super excited to take part in their room makeover challenge. I don’t update spaces often enough. I lean towards pastels, light blues and greys so the colour selector was extremely useful in helping me find my complimentary colours to make the space pop.

I knew that I didn’t want to go completely off the rails; I wanted to stay with white bedding, but George helped me pull together a much more cohesive room! With our furniture already being quite a distinct shade of blue, there were only so many directions that we could go in. In particular, it was helpful to inspire the pop of green and yellow on the cushions that gets tied in to the small throw rug at the foot of the bed. And Sam got off fairly easily, if i was single and left to my own devices, I think this room would be awash in florals and even more pastels.
