Travel || Scandic Hotel Berlin

For my one night in Berlin, I stayed at The Scandic Hotel Berlin, located right next to Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Park station. The location couldn’t have been more perfect. Being right by a station meant that even someone as directionally incompetent as myself couldn’t get lost, and that even though it’s in the centre of Berlin, getting to the airport by public transport only takes about 30 minutes. And even more perfect, walk up the road for about 7 minutes and you are right in Potsdamer Platz.

I had a Superior Room and the room itself was lovely. It was so spacious and the bed was insanely large. I used my night away from Sam to take up as much space as humanly possible. The decor throughout was very modern and clean with slight quirky touches. Like the Frank elk whom I loved.  The hotel had a lovely spa and gym area, and even a tiny shop in the lobby for purchasing snacks. I may or may not have purchased and eaten an entire massive bag of Haribo gummy bears whilst watching some late night German TV after our extremely large dinner at the Reichstag…

I’d say that it’s definitely worth opting for breakfast. The restaurant was massive and could fit every guest in the large hotel. Breakfast was buffet style but with dozens and dozens of options. (And I kept going back for more!) Room rates seem to hover around 65-80 Euros so I think it’s great value for money! Plus it’s one of the greenest hotels in Berlin, which is another huge plus.

My only slight criticism with the hotel was that the WIFI was down during my stay, but they had a technician working away trying to resolve the issue and we all have technical difficulties ever now and then!

Plus there are various others around Europe, including one in Hamburg.
