Outfitting || Outer York Wanderings

One of my favourite things to do in York is to go on long countryside walks. (I’m super excited to explore the Moors and the Dales this summer.) Getting in some outside time is really key to my happiness. I’m the kind of person where the sunlight really does deeply affect my mood and I managed to soak up some mild rays last week.

Just a short stroll out of the city centre are allotments and river walks and then beautiful fields. Everyone is so happy and waves and chats as you walk by. (This is still a bit strange to my London-trained brain!)

That brings me to this outfit; for stomping around in. My extra thick Joules top provides a perfect remedy to days that are just mild enough to not need my thick winter coat, and you can’t have a countryside walk without a pair of wellies right? The newest addition to my outfit, is that glorious Daniel Wellington watch.

Shortly before Christmas, the lovely people at Daniel Wellington got in touch to ask if I’d like to try one of the watches and I absolutely leapt at the opportunity: I was ecstatic!

Why was I so excited about a watch? (You might ask.)

Well, ages before they got in touch – about 2 years – I purchased a Daniel Wellington for myself and it has been one of my favourite purchases in recent memory. It’s a great quality watch, it looks extremely classic and suits every outfit, and I’ve worn it nearly every day since getting it. I couldn’t wait to get my second Daniel!

After having chosen quite a classic combo for my first watch (brown band, ivory face), this time I opted for a more visually arresting black band, black face in the Sheffield style. It makes me feel really chic. Like all really good leather bands they do take some breaking in before the band fits the way you want it to. My last watch took about a week of fairly consistent wearing to break in, and this one took around 3 days. I paired the watch with the rose gold cuff (size small for my baby wrists) and am really happy with the way that they complement each other.

If you’re in need of a good watch, or want to buy someone a really special gift, I hugely recommend heading on over to Daniel Wellington (and would have recommended them even before they had gotten in touch).

And because I’m extra fortunate, I have a discount code to offer to my readers: you can get 15% off when you shop with the code: RHYMEANDRIBBONS before the 15th of February. (This code works in addition to other discount codes as well!)

    • I was so excited when they reached out to me because I already know and love their product so well. I think the timelessness of their watches is what makes them so unique. I struggled in department stores to find a women’s watch that I liked otherwise! x

    • Thank you so much Laura! It’s been rather muddy lately, but it’s such a gorgeous (and gentle) walking route. It’s part of the trans-pennine way but it must be on the of easier bits! x

    • Thanks Alice! You’re way too kind! What kind of strap do you have on your Shore Projects one? x

      • They’re interchangeable so I actually have 2 – one mid brown leather and one silver mesh. I love it, especially as they’re named after seaside towns – mine is Lulworth and has a blue face! xxx

  • It looks beautiful! I adore these, they look so sleek and classic! My favourite watch broke down in September so I ordered a new one and I can’t wait for it to arrive!

    • Did you replace it with something similar or branch out a bit? (I’m really guilty of replacing things with identical copies!) x

      • No I bought a new one – with a little map as background. It was a little treat. But I have another classic watch at home that I need to get checked as it stopped ticking lol

  • Ala

Absolutely gorgeous! I got a new watch for Christmas and the DWs were ones I looked at, totally classic and timeless – mind the pun! York suits you x

  • I have about ten swatch watches as I used to be obsessed, but since getting my fitbit, I never wear them. I miss swapping out my watches though! The fitbit is just not as elegant as these Daniel Wellington watches haha

    • I used to have a blue swatch watch that I loved! (It was entirely rubbery plastic really similar to what fitbits look like these days!)

  • I love your style. You’re just too cute!

I’m not sure if I’ll ever be a watch person. Like, I want to be a person who wears a watch. It just seems sophisticated. But I don’t know if that will ever be me. Yours are beautiful!

    • Aw! Thank you so much – you’re way too kind!

I actually feel naked without my watch. I feel like something is missing all day when I don’t have it on! x

  • Miu

Nice watch, I like the all-black look!
And I am jealous, I can only dream about going outside without a coat right now πŸ˜‰

    • We had a really lucky semi warm snap where the temp was around 13, and then the next day we were straight back to around 2. But I definitely cherished that day in the sun! x

  • Great photos! The lighting is lovely in them and you look gorgeous. I’ve never tried a Daniel Wellington watch but I really like the look of them.
I love York too for that very reason πŸ™‚ I live in a market town nearby York and it’s always been my local city growing up.
