York || A Delicious Brunch at Mannion and Co

Mannion and Co is yet another York cafe/bistro/artisan bakery that is killing it with its brunch game. I said on twitter once that I don’t even miss brunch in London because York has such amazing options, and I honestly meant it. (But I still miss Dishoom. Who wouldn’t miss bacon naan?)

Mannion and Co makes all their bread, so walking into it is like walking in to a beautiful bread dream. Sam had to talk me out of buying multiple loaves of bread to take home with us after eating brunch. That morning, I opted for eggs Benedict (of course), and Sam went for chorizo and avocado eggs. The eggs on both dishes were perfectly cooked. I especially appreciated the fact that my hollandaise sauce came on the side so that I could pour on as much (I chose much) or as little as I liked. Instead of a more standard bacon rasher, I had a really lovely, thick slice of ham underneath my eggs which was perfectly salty.

The coffee was great. Strong enough for Sam, and lattes milky enough for me, and my inner cookie-monster loved that they both came with a piece of biscotti. I’m calling it biscotti but it was more like a Fat Rascal met a biscotti and made a beautiful, tasty baby.

I’ve yet to go for lunch, but I’ve heard great things about the Yorkshire rarebit. It seems to be somewhat of a speciality of Mannion and Co, so that’s next on my list!

Mannion and Co is located at 1 Blake St, York YO1 8QJ. (There’s also a location in Helmsley.)

Their hours are Monday- Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 10am – 4:30pm
