10 Happy Things Lifestyle

Life Lately || 10 Things That Made Me Happy

Happy Friday everyone! The past few weeks have really flown by. Last weekend, I spent a lot of my time taking an intensive both paediatric and adult first aid course for work and will finish it this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I pass my test!

10 Things That Made Me Happy

>>> I found out that I have a spot in the Great North Run! I’m super excited about it as it will be my first ever half marathon and I’m doing it for charity. I’m running for Beat. Beat is the UK’s leading eating disorder charity; and they help so, so many people. Not only those affected by eating disorders but the family and friends of sufferers too. I’m running for Beat to help raise money for them, and I’m so honoured to do so. If you can spare even just £5, I’d be delighted if you could donate to my fundraising campaign

I’ve worked out my training plan and have ticked off my first few official runs. I hear that the Great North Run is one of the largest half marathons in the world, so I’m excited to see the atmosphere in Newcastle come September!

>>>I’d been waiting on pins and needles to see “Get Out”. I’d heard such brilliant, brilliant things about it when it came out in America and had to eagerly await it’s UK release. Daniel Kaluuya is incredible.

>>> Sam and I went down to London for a friend’s wedding. He and his wife met when they were both working at Lord’s Cricket Ground so that’s where the reception was. It was a really unique venue and I loved how special it was to their story.

>>> I just got my first haircut since we’ve moved to York and I went for a spring-time chop. It’s shorter than the lob that I went for when I cut all my hair off post-wedding. I’d say it’s a proper bob now. I’m really enjoying it at the moment: I don’t think I’ll keep it this short – I think I like the lob better, but I really like to change things up with my hair. It’s only hair after all!

>>> Whilst we were in London, I couldn’t resist treats. Not only did I have the chocolate filled donut from Bread Ahead but I also finally had one of the most instagrammed desserts on the scene at the moment: Ice Cream with candy floss from Milk Train.

>>> I’ve had insane Caesar salad cravings lately, so without exaggeration, in the past two weeks, I’ve probably had it for dinner at least 5 times.

>>> Sam and I had a lovely meander through Greenwich Park in the sun before we needed to scurry back to the hotel and get ready for the wedding. It was so great to be out and feel the sun on my skin and have no thought of bulky coats. I’ve now packed away all my heavy winter kit and it feels so good!

>>> More daylight! I love having extra sun. I love eating in the sunlight. I love having hours of sunlight ahead of me when I get off work and (blogger cliche) it’s just so much easier to shoot photos!

>>> It’s tradition for Sam and I to watch the Boat Race together every year. Since we were rooting for Cambridge it was awesome to see the ladies smash it, but disappointing for the men. I think if there’s one sport that I 100% could never do it’s rowing. There aren’t enough years in a lifetime that would give me time to get my arm muscles that strong.

>>>Hotel Chocolat sent me some super tasty Easter goodies this week. I had the Easter Hamper. The salted caramel puddles were divine, but I can’t ignore a good egg either!  Nab a bunch for yourself before the run on chocolate next week.

>>> And last but not least: My short trip to Gdansk. It was my first ever proper solo trip and I had a blast! I can’t wait to share all my photos with you because it was such a stunning, stunning city!

I’ll be doing another day of first aid training this weekend and then hopefully qualifying late Saturday afternoon, all being well! What are your weekend plans?
