I ummed and ahhed about hosting the #bakeoffbakealong this year. Despite having done it now for a few years, I was feeling less than thrilled this year. Mostly due to the show’s move to Channel 4. I was scared that it was going to be less about baking and extremely gimmicky. More about wacky bakes, or crazy contestants. I admired the animation of the Season 8 trailer, but I hated the trailer itself. I didn’t think it boded well for the future of the show.
I knew that I needed to make a decision about hosting before the series started though.
But here’s the thing. It’s A LOT of effort hosting the #bakeoffbakealong every week for the duration of the season. But I always did it before out of a love for the program and a joy for baking.
This year it’s a gamble.
So Channel 4, please don’t let me down.
The rules are the same as last year.
I hope to see as many of you as possible for the first link up next week! #bakeoffbakealong
I can’t wait to see what everyone bakes! (Anyone can link up – the link up will be posted here on Rhyme & Ribbons first thing Monday morning. You’ll just have to link your post in a link up box – all will be made clear if you’ve never done it before.) If you want more information on the bake along just pop a question in the comment section below, or you can peruse my archives by searching “Bake Off” to see previous years creations.
We had over 500+ uses of the #bakeoffbakealong hashtag last year, so here’s to an even bigger year.

Will you be baking along with me?
