10 Happy Things Lifestyle

Life Lately || 10 Things That Made Me Happy

Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone has had an absolutely lovely weekend. I can’t believe that we are approaching the tail-end of August. It seems like the summer just started but we are about to see the beginning of autumn (noooo!!!!!)

10 things that have made me happy lately

>>> Harold‘s arrival obviously has to be on the top of this list! I introduced the new puppy properly last week, but he’s so cute and he knows it. Our lives have revolved around this little creature for the past few weeks and it’s astonishing how something so small can have such a big impact on your life.

>>> I’ve been super excited to start undertaking all my doula training. If you follow me on Goodreads, I’m sorry for the wash of all the pregnancy physiology spam.

>>> I love milk in coffee, but I’ve been really struggling with lactose for the past few years. And I don’t really like almond milk in coffee. I’ve discovered oat milk and it’s the best thing in coffee ever! So creamy and lightly nutty!

>>> Sam’s dad was here in York for the last few weeks and it was lovely to get to spend so much time with him.

>>> I wrote a few weeks ago about falling in love with our Riverford veg box. Lately we’ve been getting the 100% UK seasonal veg box and it’s money very well spent!

>>> Sam, his dad and I all ventured out to Bempton Cliffs to go to the Seabird Centre together. It was absolutely stunning, and I have a post on it planned soon.

>>> I’ve had the opportunity lately to return to brunch at two of my favourite places in York: the Pig & Pastry and the Perky Peacock. (You can see all of my top York brunch picks here.)

>>> Who doesn’t love the fact that Game of Thrones is back on our TVs? Although I am absolutely bemoaning the fact that this year’s season is so short!

>>> It’s super woo-woo but I’ve been really getting into crystals. My research first started when my aunt gave me a Himalayan rock salt lamp for my birthday. Then I moved into wearing rose quartz and lately, sea agate.

>>> Sam was away all weekend shooting a wedding and he’ll be gone this upcoming weekend as well. His headshots and his theatre photos are gorgeous, but I’m a huge fan of his un-posed and natural wedding photos. But I’m biased, of course. Take a peek for yourself and if you have an upcoming wedding or engagement, keep him in mind. (He also does LinkedIn headshots and blogging photos.)

What has made you happy lately? What did you get up to this weekend?

  • Passed the Perky Peacock the other day during a flying work trip into York! And of course Harold is the cutest thing ever, you lucky duck.

Harold is SO cute! Hope you’re having the best time getting used to life with him.

That seasonal veg box sounds awesome! I’ve been thinking of getting something similar but I’m not sure what the options are in South London. I’d love to support local businesses etc so I’ll have to look into it! xx

    • I know that Riverford delivers in South London. My neighbors used get one in SE19. xx

Oh amazing, thanks so much! I’ll look into it xx

  • He is very cute, how come where a person knows they are cute it makes them less so – but dogs can go around making it blatantly obvious they think they’re adorable and it just makes them more so ;P

  • Miu

I was already wondering what all the birthing literature was about 😄

    • Haha, I think I said on twitter but it’s the first I’ve mentioned on my blog. (I’d still get kicked out of the country if I had my own little baby, unfortunately! 😉 ) xx

  • Life is good when there are things that make us happy because happy is good

  • Awe puppies are just the best!

  • I’m ready for fall, but that’s because it’s been summer since about April.

I’m not sure how it tastes in coffee, but I love adding a coconut-almond milk blend to my brewed chai tea. While it tastes nothing like a Starbucks chai latte, I’ve cut way back on my Starbucks consumption ever since I discovered this delicious concoction. An even richer (but higher-in-fat) alternative is a spoonful of coconut cream. I only do that if I’m using up coconut cream after making pina colodas 😉

    • I love using coconut milk but there’s just something that tastes off about it in coffee. (But it’s still better than soy and almond milk in coffee). I love it in cold tea though! xx

  • Girl I had been really confused by all those pregnancy and birth books and I didn’t want to be nosy and ask if you were pregnant haha this makes so much sense!

    • Haha, yea I mentioned retraining on twitter but I hadn’t yet on my blog. I’d love my visa sponsorship if there was a little bug in my tummy. So this womb will be baby free unless I qualify for ILR. 😉 xx

  • All wonderful things to be happy about! So I’ve been following you on twitter/insta for a while, and it’s taken me THIS long to actually make it to your blog (clicking on a new web browser is hard). I’m so glad I did! I love your very personal take on it — a breath of fresh air in today’s “blogging is here to inform and it must begin with a number and a clickbait title.” I love this! Your dog is adorable. Also, if you are remotely into iced coffees, coconut milk (from Alpro or similar), and a dash of honey makes for one amazing coffee. Pretty much the only way I drink it these days!

Also. good luck with any ILR stuff. I wish I could say I feel you, but…nearly 8 years in the UK and 5 visas later, I’m still FOREVER away from it. Ughhh.

    • Thank you so much lovely!

I’m the same visa boat as you it sounds like – same amount of years, same number of visas. I try not to think of it too much, but imagine all the nice places we could have visited if we weren’t paying for visas! 😉 xx

  • Harold is soooooo sweet! I’m sure he will give you years and years of happiness too – I know mine do! <3

    G is for Gingers xx

  • I cannot get over how stinking cute Harold is! I love seeing all the photos on instagram of him. I love wiener dogs, if Kevin wasn’t allergic we’d get one.

  • YES I love our Riverford box!! Though neither of us likes beetroot, so we’ve had a good bit of waste from that the last few weeks. :/

    • Ah see! I’m luck in that Sam is a human garbage disposal and will eat anything and everything. no food goes to waste around here 😉 xx

  • Aww Harold is so sweet. The things you’ve gotten enjoyment from lately sound really great
