Happy Sunday everyone! I’m writing this post from a train on the way to Manchester for a weekend in Berlin with the Chamaleon Theatre. If you are interested in what is on at the moment you can see the Chamaeleon schedule here. I’m so excited to be in such a great city in a few short hours!

10 Things That Have Made Me Happy Recently

end of september collage

>>> The big doula training weekend that I had been looking forward to for ages came and went and was just as interesting and emotional as I thought it would be.

>>> My mom sent a box of sweeties for me, and costumes and jumpers for Harold. I cried with laughter the first time I saw him in his hotdog costume. And surprisingly, he doesn’t hate it. (His cowboy hat, he’s less enthusiastic about)

>>> Have I mentioned that I’m on my way to Berlin?

>>> I also received this box of American goodies from Kingdom of Sweets to remind me of home. It was such a great gift to get, especially so close to Halloween. Any American kid will know that there was always the hierarchy of halloween candy and it looked something like this:

God level: Full size anything, even if you didn’t really like that candy bar.

Extremely high: Fun size Snickers, Reeses’s cups, bags of Skittles, Butterfingers, Sour Patch Kids.

Mid-tier: Nerds, Gobstoppers, Twix, Kit-Kat, M&Ms.

Low: American smarties (which are dry and chalk like – sort of like a cross between Parma Violets and Love Hearts here in the UK), candy corn, generic hard candies that you only associated with worryingly untouched bowls from your grandparent’s house, Good & Plenty, and Circus Peanuts.

I highly recommend visiting the Kingdom of Sweets website (plus they give you 10% off your first order).

>>> Season 2 of Doctor Foster was epic. I didn’t really feel satisfied by the ending, but I loved it up until that point. What did you think?

>>> I received a phonemail Vita Coco package, with a bumper load of coconut water in it. I’ve been staying very hydrated this week, for sure! It’s all in honour of London Cocktail week (which ends on Sunday night) so if you’re looking for a way to celebrate this weekend, head down to Hackney to The Natural Philosopher where they will be serving Vita Coco cocktails.

My favourite cocktail to make at home during my coconut water experiments was Alf de Portillo’s Thrilla in Manila cocktail.

To make it at home combine 50mL Vita Coco water, 35 mL Dry Gin, 10 ML Pastis de Marseille, and 2 dashes of orange bitters. Strain the contents into a chilled glass.

I’m excited to be away this weekend, but I wish that I was able to attend!

>>> I had a flying visit to London this week, and it was so nice to be able to meet up with Emma for a drink.

>>> I went to the cinema to see “It”. It was just as creepy as I wanted it to be, and I was really impressed by the child actors. (One of them was from ‘Stranger Things’ and he was brilliant in it!)

>>> I got a haircut with the wonderful Lotte at George Northwood and it felt amazing. I hadn’t had my haircut since the end of March so it great to get some volume and length taken off.

>>> I’ve started filling in my diary (datebook) for 2018 already. Yes, I still use a paper planner/diary but I have to. I can’t deal with an online schedule and losing it would be like losing my arm.

What are you getting up to this weekend?
