Travel || 10 Best Brunch and Coffee Shops in Berlin

roamers interior

More than dinner or lunch, I love visiting a good cafe, brunch, coffee shop option. I’d happily fill up at a random time in the early afternoon and then have a very light dinner. Not to mention that I usually find brunch options to be the most delicious meal options around, plus I get to pair them with super tasty coffees.

So when I visit Berlin, I tend to allocate my food budget to visiting interesting cafes.

10 Best Brunch and Coffee Shops in Berlin

1. The Barn Cafe

The Barn allegedly has the best coffee in Berlin and I can attest that it is delicious. The entire staff seemed to be made up of Kiwis when I visited but what could be more authentically Berlin than a coffee shop run by expats? I was saddened to find out that their vegan baked good delivery hadn’t turned up that morning but I’ll just have to go back another time to make sure that I get to sample a delicious cake.

It is located at Auguststrasse 58, 10119 Berlin.

2. The Store Kitchen

Located in the super-cool SOHO House building in the Mitte, The Store Kitchen is right there in the mix of the shopping and hairdressing concept store options. It focuses on making healthy food taste and look amazingly appealing and is backed by two London restauranteurs. It’s most comparable to eating at Ottolenghi and you have to have one of their cold-pressed juices. No SOHO house membership is needed to eat at Store Kitchen.

It is located at Torstraße 1, 10119 Berlin.

3. Daluma

Daluma is famous in Berlin for being really, really healthy. It makes the Hemsley sisters look like Colonel Sanders. The first thing that caught my eye inside Daluma is that the decor is painfully cool. Just look at all my pictures below. The food is raw and vegan; it’s a great place to go if you want a super-food filled light lunch.

4. Silo Coffee

Again, this is another cafe that is always crowded. A good sign, for the most part, although it can be a tad frustrating if you have a tight time-scale due to a weekend break schedule. They serve famously tasty brunches on award-winning sourdough bread.

It is located at Gabriel-Max-Straße 4, 10245 Berlin

5. Breakfast Market at Markthalle Neun

The breakfast market happens the 3rd Sunday of every month. And it’s exactly what the name states: an entire food market devoted to breakfast. You can find anything from authentic huevos rancheros to a tapioca bar to Brazilian pancakes to congee. It’s worth going just to gaze at all of the breakfast food.

It is located at Eisenbahnstraße 42/43, 10997 Berlin

6. Brammibal’s

I’ve already sung Brammibal’s praises in multiple blog posts, but it’s a completely vegan place in Kreuzberg that specialises, in you guessed it, vegan donuts. I have a whole blog post dedicated to Brammibal’s so that might be worth a read. If you have any friends that are a bit suspicious of vegan food, take them here and it will make them converts. These are some of the best donuts I’ve ever had in my whole life. And I’ve eaten a lot of donuts.

It is located at Maybachufer 8, 12047 Berlin

7. Bonanaza Coffee

I love the sparse and white decor in Bonanaza Coffee; it tickles all my minimalist desires. If you’re in Kreuzberg, come here for coffee! They roast their own coffee and it’s absolutely lovely. And very, very strong. For someone a bit directionally challenged like me, I found it slightly hard to find as it’s a bit hidden away.

It is located at Adalbertstraße 70, 10999 Berlin

8. Roamers

To tell you the truth, I first found Roamers on instagram because it looked so beautiful, but then I learned that it’s well-known to be a hidden gem in the Berlin brunch scene. Though I’m not quite sure how “hidden” it actually is as the wait was an hour for a table when I was there, and I got to chatting to a couple waiting for a table and they said that there’s always a wait. Roamers looks like it’s straight out of Kinfolk magazine and the food is insanely delicious as well. The staff seemed a little stressed and inattentive, but it’s probably because they were so rammed!

It is located at Pannierstraße 64, 12043 Berlin

9. Distrikt Coffee

Distrikt Coffee has a super chilled atmosphere, with a cool mezzanine level and lots of delicious food and coffee to boot. There are vegan options available, and everyone seems to rave about their pancakes. Their coffee comes from The Barn and from Ozone London roasteries.

It is located at Bergstraße 68, 10115 Berlin

10. House of Small Wonders

The House of Small Wonders is most famous for it’s extremely instagrammable interior, but it has a delicious menu as well. Service is a bit slow, and the queue for brunch is usually at least 30 minutes long, but it’s a photographer’s dream come true.

It is located at Johannisstraße 20, 10117 Berlin

Do I have any coffee shop/cafe/brunch places that I completely missed off the list for Berlin? What should I try next time I’m there?
