Ages ago, or back in mid-November, which is near enough to ages ago, I directed Dinner with Marie Antoinette at Truc Vert starring the lovely Bloody Hell Brenan and the lovely Sam. Due to circumstances beyond everyone’s control, attendance at the evening was lower than expected, but that didn’t stop Katie and Sam from rocking it as Marie Antoinette and Louis respectively.
In between courses from the lovely kitchen at Truc Vert, they acted out short excerpts from David Adjmi’s fabulous play “Marie Antoinette”. Biggest props go to Frankie for being the mind behind-the-scenes, the lady with the know-how.
Whist Katie and Sam had to stay in character at the head table, I was sure to tuck into some food and bubbles with gusto. I know that I have the reputation of the weird lady who really loves salad based on this former review of Truc Vert where I gushed about their salad, so it was only fitting that I tucked into this mixed leaf salad with aplomb. I also devoured, you heard me, devoured, the veal and chips. The chips were perfection, super crispy on the outside and so fluffy on the inside. The veal was obviously incredibly tender and cooked perfectly. I could tell that Sam was giving me the side-eye of envy as I ate it.
We are hoping to remount this dining experience in the summer and I hope that you might be able to join us then!
