10 Happy Things Lifestyle Wedding

Life lately || The Best Happy Things Ever

Happy Friday wonderful readers! I started responding to comments on my blog on Wednesday, but with today’s post I am officially back! Our week up North is over and I am back in London an elated and married woman. I have so very much to be happy about, and it makes this “happy things” post one of the easiest I’ve ever written.

I’ve mentioned a lot that I am getting married, but it’s been very wedding-planning light on this space. Mostly because I’m not an anonymous blogger and I wanted friends and family to be surprised when they turned up on Saturday and not feel like they’ve seen it all already. I’ll be putting up these posts next month when all our professional photos have been sent to us, so I won’t go into too many details yet and save them for later.

Thank goodness for all the photos friends and family took, so that I don’t have to wait weeks to see at least a few images. Our photographer, Neil, was fabulous and he sent us 3 taster photos (included here in this post) to get us excited for when the rest of them touch down in our inboxes. It’s also lucky that I left my wedding dress up in Yorkshire or I’d be sitting around in it as I type this – I adored wearing it!

>>> Let’s get the big one out of the way: Saturday was wonderful. Was it perfect? Of course not, no day is! But it was, without hesitation, the best day of my life. I can’t ever remember a time when I was happier, smiled more, or felt more loved. It made me wish that I could get married to Sam all the time. I can honestly say, that I’ve never felt more loved than I did last week and Saturday was filled with both tears and laughter.

>>>Having my family and friends in England was wonderful. To be honest, the past few days have been hard for me. After the absolute elation that was our wedding and seeing people that I only get to see once in a blue moon because they live in America, taking those same people back to airports and train stations, to not see them for god knows how long was hard. Really hard. But I have the most joyful memories of them being with me in England, and I’ll have those memories forever.

>>> In all the chaos around setting up the wedding, (we had a completely DIY wedding. We got married in a village hall so all furniture, decor and set up was up to us), we managed to squeeze in a day trip with friends out to Whitby so that they could see more of the Yorkshire coast. I’ll blog about that next week.

>>> On our Virgin train from London to York, the conductor noticed my wedding dress garment bag. (It was huge so I’d be surprised if he hadn’t noticed it.) Sam and I got to chatting about our wedding with him, and a few minutes later, he returned to our carriage with a bottle of bubbles for us to have to make our trip a bit happier on behalf of Virgin. That’s what I call customer service! (It definitely made missing our connection in York a bit easier. )

>>>Cake leftovers are the best! Sam and I have officially frozen a few slices for our anniversary, and I’m pressing flowers and trying to dry my bouquet to keep a little bit of the day with me forever.

>>> On my first day back to work I led an event up on the View From The Shard with champagne, so that’s not too difficult of a way to ease back in!

>>> Our home is filled with more cards than I’ve ever seen in one place  (outside of a stationery aisle), and our cupboards are full of American treats and candies.

>>> On a less epic note, Sam and I went to see “Ghostbusters” and I loved it. As I’ve mentioned before, I was a huge fan of the movies when I was little (and the cartoon series) and Wiig and co, definitely did it justice.

>>> We also attended the Lambeth Country show before our wedding, and I’ll be blogging about that next week as well.

>>> We didn’t go on honeymoon straight away (or even a mini-moon) so it’s been exciting to start planning and thinking about where we’d like to go. Obviously, I’m think Bali, Thailand or the Maldives, but less grand plans might have to be in store.

Any honeymoon suggestions? I also need to sleep for about a million hours this weekend – I feel like I’ve been running on adrenalin and sugar for the past month, at least!
