This week has completely gotten away from me. It simultaneously went super quickly and I could never keep track of what day it was, but at the same time, it seems like the weekend was a very long, long time ago. Have you ever felt a similar paradox?

I won’t go full English and discuss the weather in this post, but I do really miss the sun of earlier in the summer.

10 Things That Made Me Happy Recently

>>> I got my permit in the mail that identifies that I have Indefinite Leave to remain. It was great finally getting firm proof in my hand. And now I have all my documents back I can leave the country again if I needed to. (I couldn’t before this parcel arrived).

>>> I’ve started running regularly again and it feels great. I’ve also been doing Yoga with Adrienne’s 31 Day Revolution. (I’ve done some of her other challenges in the past).

>>> We had a boarded up fireplace in our living room and the other weekend, I spent the morning uncovering it and tidying it up. Having it open makes the room feel so much bigger!

>>> We had dinner with some friends last week and I was served a vegan chocolate cheesecake made with tofu and it was an absolute revelation. So, so, so tasty!

>>> Sam and I belatedly celebrated our anniversary with Indian Street Food at a restaurant called The Cat’s Pyjamas. The food was insanely delicious and when they heard it was our anniversary they gave us prosecco on the house.

>>> I’ve been having the best time working on our allotment. It was an absolute mess. (It had been abandoned and overgrown for over 5 years.) But Sam and I now have a little half acre outside to call our own and I have grand plans for it. Being outside in the earth is really revitalising.

>>> I discovered a wine bar in York that is just excellent! It’s called Pairings and it is over by the Castle Museum. I usually dislike rose, but I had a glass of Brut Rose there called Sior Lele, V8 + and it was one of the best things I’ve ever drunk!

>>> We went to see Mamma Mia 2 with a friend and Sam’s dad. And we all had a blast. The film is an absolute romp, and I had a lot more fun in it than I did in the first film. The christening scene had me in tears, and if you’ve seen it and you kept a dry eye then, I’d say you were lying.  And most importantly, you really can’t beat Cher’s cameo.

>>> I mentioned in my last happy things post that I’m undergoing acupuncture treatment. My practitioner recommended a set of 4 treatments, and with only 1 left, I’ll be really sad to say goodbye to my weekly visits. I find them so relaxing!

>>> I’m working with Leesa Sleep, and my new mattress arrived in the post last week. I’ll be doing a full review after I’ve tested it out for 30 night’s sleep, but so far, it is absolutely blissful!
