10 things

It’s been ages since I’ve had a proper catch up post. Life has been so busy lately that I’ve barely had time to blog or instagram.

So let’s get down to it:

10 Things That Have Made Me Happy Lately

>>> I have officially sent out my references that I need for my citizenship application. It’s one of the last pieces of the puzzle.

>>> Sam and I had a very grown up date at Pairings. It was lovely to sit down and have a chat over a bottle of wine, just the two of us.

>>> I sent off a poetry pamphlet selection to a small Indie press for their reading period deadline. There’s a zero percent chance that they’ll choose mine; but at least I’ve ripped that bandaid off.

>>> I had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Judge’s Court Hotel. You can read about it here.

>>> I’ve had some very good news on the blog collaborations and press trip side of business lately. (Though there is an upcoming trip that I was invited on and I can’t go – I’m absolutely gutted.)

>>> I had a very exciting bit of news that happened to me this week, career wise. I can’t talk about it which is an annoying to bring it up at all, but it’s thrown my energy completely out of whack this week and I’ve been alternating between elation and anxiety.

>>> York Residents Weekend has come and gone and it’s one of my favourite York weekends. You get into a lot of local attractions free if you can prove that you live here. Aka my favourite weekend of the late winter season. We finally visited the York Dungeon – something that’s been on my “to visit” list forever, but only if I get in free – and it did not disappoint. Yes, it was slightly naff and silly, but that’s the joy of it. The actors there must work SO hard.

>>> I baked a truly phenomenal loaf of bread this week. My bread usually tastes good, but this one looked absolutely spot-on as well.

>>> I was gifted a lovely package from Votary London with their Super Seed Facial Oil. It’s one of their top sellers and I can completely see why. I absolutely love it. It makes me skin feel great – I put it on after a cleanse in the morning and I find it really calming. The product claims to be fragrance-free (and there’s definitely no perfume in it) but I can smell a lovely, slightly earthy smell from the seeds in the oil. But I dig it.

Votary is a UK based natural skincare brand and I definitely recommend taking a look at them! (They are also vegan and their packaging is all recyclable.)

>>> I’ve been watching all of the “Broad City”. It’s my favourite comedy at the moment. Abbi and Ilana are an iconic duo.

>>> I completed Yoga with Adriene’s 30 days of yoga, ‘Dedicate’ challenge. I’ve done her 30 straight days of yoga before, but let me tell you – this one was extremely challenging for me. Not physically, but my mind has been all over the place mentally so my focus has been pulled in all directions and quieting my mind to practise yoga has been difficult.

How has your life gone lately? What are you getting up to this weekend?
