Sausage Dog Pop Up Cafe in Sheffield

harold and howard cup

It’s obviously no secret that I am absolutely obsessed with sausage dogs. I was in love with them before Harold came into my life and he just deepened my love for them. So when I found out that there was going to be a pop-up dachshund cafe close to York, I knew I had to be there with bells on!

I missed the pop-up cafe in Leeds, which might have been slightly more convenient, but Harold and I took the train down to Sheffield so that he could spend a Sunday afternoon meeting loads of other sausages and I could be in dog heaven.

Whilst you are waiting for your time slow (the even is timed so that the crowds aren’t uncontrollable), everyone gets handed little dog treats for you to hand out to your favourite sausages. Every sausage dog is entitled to a free puppuccinos, and there’s a professional photographer wandering around taking photos of you and all your sausages.

There’s competition for the best dressed pup, and trade stands that sell dachshund related goodies. Harold came away from the even with a new collar. And there’s a donation box for one of my favourite charities – The Red Foundation – which is an emergency dachshund rescue charity.

Harold can be funny around other dogs sometimes, but he was on his absolute best behaviour, although he was slightly timid. I got to have so many cuddles with other sausages and was in dog heaven. Although Harold did get a little jealous, when a gorgeous baby female pup stole my attention briefly.

It’s such a wholesome and fun day out, and honestly, I couldn’t recommend it more highly!

Since I attended the Sheffield event, the company has announced that they are having a York event late in September (22 September). Tickets are £10 for regular humans, £8 for dachshund owners and free for dachshunds. You can get tickets here.

This post was in no way sponsored, I just love dogs.

Would you go to a pop-up dachshund cafe?
