Lonesome living… (A Guest Post)

Hello!

Today was the fateful day that Amanda had to return to America… Because of this she is unable to post anything today so I have gallantly (foolishly?) agreed to step into the fray on her behalf.

It was an extremely sad day for both of us – I just this minute returned home from dropping her off at the airport. Under normal circumstances, if, say, Amanda was away for the evening leaving me in the flat with the prospect of two much-hyped football (soccer, for some of you) games and The Masters to watch, I would relish the opportunity not to be told off for lying on the sofa watching sport. But I’m afraid that today has a distinctly sour flavour. Amanda isn’t away for the evening; Amanda is out of the country for the next two months and I shall miss her terribly. Not even an afternoon of mooching and sport viewing can brighten my mood.

My melancholy is furthered by the realisation that I have nothing much to offer you in the way of baking (Amanda is so good that I have never really tried), crafting (I’m truly terrible at anything artistic) or anything of photographic interest other than this:

(This is me jumping for joy on a happier day!)

I’m doing a play at the moment where I have to play the guitar on stage, usually in front of around 1000 spectators. Now, I have owned a guitar for a number of years (my interest in learning to play was piqued by friends of mine who make guitar playing look so cool, and easy) but I have never got past playing a few, extremely simple, tunes. This has been a new challenge all together. Never have my hands experienced fear like they did on the first night. All of a sudden my fingers turned to unwieldy rocks and I massacred an otherwise beautiful tune. Luckily for me, Amanda was watching (and laughing) that night.

Right, I shall take up no more of your time. Apologies for my ramblings: I assure you that normal service will resume tomorrow when Amanda takes control again.

Have a great Sunday and will you do me a favour? Make sure that today you look around at the people you love, hold them close and appreciate the value they bring to your life.
