Baked Goods & Sweet Treats Recipes

Nutella Gooey Butter Cake

Greetings from London! Now when I bake treats, Sam and I eat some, (I eat some more), and I usually box some up for him to take into work. But oh no, not this recipe. We each had a bar and decided that there was no way that we would share the treats this week.

I think Nutella is the closest rival to my Oreo obsession. Also, I keep trying to fatten Sam up and nothing is working.

It’s practically begging to be eaten, right?

(Adapted from Tidy Mom)
For first layer:
1 box chocolate cake mix
1/2 cup melted butter
1 egg

For second layer:
2 eggs, beaten
8 oz cream cheese
1 cup Nutella
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2 cups of powdered sugar

Nutella Gooey Butter Cake batter
It took A LOT of self-restraint to stop myself from eating the batter.

Preheat oven to 325 F and grease a 9×11 pan.

It also took self-restraint to stop myself from eating this layer as well.

Mix the cake mix, butter and egg together until thoroughly combined. The batter will be very thick. Press it into the pre-greased pan with your fingers.

I hate waiting for baked goods to cool. It’s the pits. I just want the treats in my face right away!

In a second bowl, using a hand mixer, blend the beaten eggs, cream cheese, vanilla and Nutella together. Slowly beat in the powdered sugar a little bit at a time.

I love the way that brownie “skin” crackles on top!

Pour the Nutella cream cheese mixture over the first layer in the pan.  Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Allow it to cool and then slice into bars.

Personally, I think this treat tastes even better the next day!

What I wouldn’t give to have another one for breakfast today.

I can’t think of a single thing I couldn’t eat Nutella off of. (That’s a bit of an exaggeration…. but barely)
