Baked Goods & Sweet Treats Recipes

M&M Blondies

In full disclosure, my mom was the first person to show me the wonders of the M&M blondies. I’m not sure where she got her recipe, but I’d put my money on it coming from the recipe section of a back of a bag of chocolate chips or M&Ms. And even better, for special occasions she’d even let us put them in vanilla ice-cream.

This is an exciting post as it’s my first ever vlog! I was quite nervous about doing one, that’s why it took me so long.

Ingredients
  1. 1/2 cup butter (about 112 g)
  2. 2 cups of brown sugar
  3. 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 2 cups of flour
  6. 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  7. 1 teaspoon of salt
  8. 1 1/2 cups of m&ms (about 200 g)
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 F (about 176 C). Grease a baking dish. I used a 13x9.
  2. Cream your butter and your sugar together.
  3. Mix in the eggs and vanilla.
  4. Sift together the baking powder, flour and salt, then mix it into the batter.
  5. Fold in 1 cup of M&Ms, reserving the remaining 1/2 cup M&Ms.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into your dish and then top with the remaining M&Ms.
  7. Bake for approximately 25 minutes. The blondie will still be a bit soft but a lovely golden-brown colour.
  8. Let them cool throughly before slicing into bars.

  • This is super cool, Amanda! I’m sharing with everyone I know. Twitter, Facebook, people I meet on the street, high school teachers I haven’t seen in 15 years, everyone!

    • Thank you so much Frankie! i was pretty nervous because most people haven’t heard my voice before (I get weirdly self-conscious about it.) But then I mellowed out and ate a few blondies and went full-steam ahead! xx

  • Simply perfect!

  • Your first vlog is so cute, I love it! Have subscribed to your channel and can’t wait for more! The blondies look delicious. xxx

  • Jennifer Polly

These blondies look so delicious! And your first ever vlog was great, I really enjoyed watching it 🙂 xx

  • Amy @ the tide that left

Love the video! Excellent work! Although next time, do it drunk. I thought we discussed this? Maybe not….

What’s the tattoo on your wrist? Xx

    • I know, I know. It was a failure really. But it was quite early on a Saturday morning and I didn’t want to make too much of a disgrace of myself. Next time: drunk.

The tattoo means “I am that I am.” I know, I can a bit of a knob sometimes…. Ha! x

      • Amy @ the tide that left

I’m counting on you. Maybe you can wait for me & we’ll do it together. I can be your unglamorous assistant.

I like the tat. I have a butterfly to represent freedom. Now that’s knobby.

  • Mmmm these look so good! Definitely going to give them a go this week! Loved the video, especially the waiting around part 🙂 How essential would you say it is to have brown sugar for these vs. white?

    • ps… you have turned into my new favorite recipe blog of late. Not even kidding, I have made two R&R recipes in the past week. hahah

      • I really appreciate that! Thank you so much! Brown sugar is pretty essential for this one- its the flavour base. I’m sure you could make a crazy substitution of regular sugar and molasses but I’ve never personally tried it with blondies so I don’t know the ratios you’d need or how the consistency would turn out. It could be an experiment though! xx

  • Love the video. And you’ve made it look so easy. I definitely need to try these!

    • Thank you so much! It is pretty darn simple! I’m sure you could whizz them up in a heartbeat! xx

  • You are so cute, Amanda! I loved your video – the background music, your facial expressions, everything! Your videographer (Sam?) did a great job, too!

P.S. My family makes these, too. And sometimes we substitute butterscotch chips for m&ms – they’re really yummy that way, too!

    • Thank you so so so much Sarah! I really appreciate your kind words, and Sam videographer extrodinaire will as well! xx

  • Angie SilverSpoon

The video is really sweet! I always thought Blondie meant it was made with white chocolate!

    Lots of love,
    Angie
    SilverSpoon London

    • Thanks Angie! I think a lot of people think that too! I think it’s because a lot of the time people put white chocolate chips into blondies. xx

  • I loved your first video Amanda! You are literally the sweetest person ever and I love the sound of your voice! I have subscribed! X

    • Hahah thank you so much Carly! I really appreciate it and all your kind words. I get really self-conscious about my voice. I feel like I sound like a kid! x

  • Loved the video!!!! It felt perfectly homey and informative! I really want to make this now, I will admittedly most likely use Non Stops as they are cheaper!!

    • Totally fair! I almost succumbed to the lure of Smarties, but I just don’t like them nearly as much. xx

  • YAY – Vlog was awesome! and the blondies look good too! Have you tried making these as a brownie with M&M’s before, kind like a double choc brownie? Or maybe even with peanutbutter M&M’s? drool… sorry, can you tell it is nearly lunchtime and I am starving?

    • Totally put them into a chocolate brownie before. I’ve done oreos too. Hahah there’s not much I wouldn’t try putting in to a brownie at least once! x

  • Yay loved it! I want to be hanging out in your kitchen with you, I can be your designated taste testers, you need a girls opinion too 🙂

  • Great video! And I just learned the difference between Blondies and Brownies! Although I have made both before. haha

  • These look yummy, I can’t watch your vlog at work (boo!) but I will watch it tonight – I am sure it is wonderful! xx

  • WOW!!! Your baking video is awesome. I love watching your video so much. You have a bright smile and very professional cooking skill. M&M Blondies are so cute and delicious!!!!!!

  • Cute video! I don’t mean to be a creeper but somehow, you sound exactly like I imagined 🙂

    • I agree with Kelly!

      • Ha, thanks Diana. I hope I didn’t scare you off with my high-pitchedness! xx

        • no, don’t worry, the only feedback I have is maybe lower the music volume?

          • Thanks for the feedback! I definitely struggled with the volume. For some reason it sounded quieter in iMovie than it did when I uploaded it to youtube. Rookie error! x

    • Thanks so much! (I hope only in good or at least halfway decent way). 🙂 xx

  • Such a cute video!! Loved it! I just go a go-pro, so I too have been experimenting with some videos! Such a good idea!

Going to have to try this recipe! Looks delicious!

  • Ana Valentin

You’re just as cute and even more than I imagined! Great video! I can make these fit my diet quite easily by swapping the butter with margarine! #semiveganprobs More vlogs to come soon hopefully! Much love

    • Thank you so much Ana! I’ve baked vegan before using applesauces etc, so maybe I’ll do a vegan recipe soon for you 😉 x

  • Natalie Barletta

Those look so yummy. Im going to give them a try!
    Natalie @findingmyownvoice7.blogspot.com

  • I love your vlog, Amanda! So fun. I hope you’ll be making more. And these look delicious, as always! 😀 x

  • Cute vlog – totally expected you to have an accent, although not sure why as I knew you were American 🙂

    • Haha, sorry to ruin that image to you. (And to introduce you to the fact that my voice is pretty darn high-pitched.) A lot of the time, my English friends comment on “how American” I sound, while American friends claim I’m getting an accent. You win some, you lose some! x

      • I definitely think you have some British in there!

  • Julie @ Artwork by JM

Those blondies look sooo good! Definitely pinning this one to make later. And my husband is holding me to it because right as I opened the page he saw them and now he wants them too. lol!

  • Yummmm! I need to make these like yesterday!

  • you’re bloody adorable. i really like the video! and the blondies look so good. i don’t think i’ve ever had blondies (!), so i’ll have to give them a go at some point! xx

    • Oh, they remind me of extra thick, chewy cookies so i’m super keen on blondies. And thank you! xx

  • They look bloody yummy

  • They look amazing and very cute video!

  • You have no idea how good these look to me right now! I would kill for a good blondie right now!
    Melanie @ meandmr.com

  • it’s so adorable to hear your voice!!

  • OMG- you’re even better in person. LOL- does that sound completely creepy!?
That was so good Amanda! You know I’m a huge fan of the recipes and I’m a huge fan of you too. Keep up this blogging .. with the vlogs and the new recipe feature. I love it!

    • Hahahaaha. I’m glad you think so. I get weirdly self-conscious about my voice sometimes (because it’s so high pitched). But I’m glad you enjoyed it because I had loads of fun making it! xx

  • Claudia Wood

    Yum! These look amazing!

  • Pinned these the other day and didn’t even realise they were from you! They look delicious! I’ve said a couple of times now that I wanted to start trying out your recipes and next week is the week for it! It’s Dan’s birthday that weekend so I’m hoping to use your recipes to whip up a nice birthday treat… maybe it’s these… although now I am seeing links for Oreo Brownies… hmmm….. 😉

    • For some reason that makes me feel like a ninja. In a very, very good way? Okay, here’s the truth. I am an Oreo fiend. I’ll put them in anything once, and love it. But the blondies were better than the oreo brownies. (In my opinion) xx

  • I’ve been looking forward to your first vlog (I was curious about how your voice sounds — until now I pictured you as Zooey Deschanel’s vocal clone since you said you’re the real life Jess, haha)! As always, I’m ready for some baked good geocaching. I would make them myself, but all the numbers were scrubbed off my oven before I moved in >:[

    • I wish I sounded like Zooey. She says that amazing deep, throaty voice where as I sadly still sound like a small child. Darn my high vocal register. 😉 xx

  • Thanks Hannah! x

  • Tiffany Cutcliff

Those look so yummy! And you are so brave for doing a Vlog- good for you! Love it.

  • mmm these look super tasty! I’m off to check out your vlog too 🙂

  • Great first vlog wow good job! You have a great camera technician really 🙂 and it was soo weird to hear your voice for the first time haha I think that’s one of the thing when reading someone, I kind of imagined your voice and it was different – but good different of course 😉 You should have your own cooking show by the way!! I hope to see more vlogs soon xx

    • Thanks! And Sam’s brother and he used to make movies all the time for fun so luckily I have someone who pretty strongly enjoys it 😉 I get really self-conscious about how high pitched my voice is, and I was afraid it would shock people (in a bad way) xx

  • mena & taty

Half of those m&ms would be gone as I make these! thanks for sharing at the #bestoftheblogoshpere hope to see you again next week!
