Say what you like about Paltrow, she has played some absolute style icons. The first being Margot from “The Royal Tenenbaums”. The second is slightly less well-known and it’s Marge from “The Talented Mr Ripley”. There are two reasons to watch the overly-long film; the first, Jude Law at his most beautiful; the second, the fashion is perfect. I hope the costumer won an award for it. Pretty much every single piece that Marge wears in that movie, I lust after. She’s my summer style icon, pretty much always.
Marge’s 50s summer in Italy style is just so cool and classic. Marge always looks chic but effortless. And above all, she looks comfortable at all times. That is my kind of style. But I like to add in a few modern twists so that it doesn’t start to look too costume-y. The only thing I’d change about her style is a few less Alice bands! The rest of it though…. midi skirts, white tennis shoes, espadrilles, high waisted bikinis…. what’s there not to love?
If Marge was in her 20s right now, she’d definitely spend her free time browsing the racks in Anthropologie.
