Life Lately || The Happenings

I can’t believe we are halfway through July already! The summer is flying by and I am not ready to see the end of it any time soon. Work has continued to be extremely busy lately, which is why my blog commenting skills have been a bit sub-par lately.

First things first, I was gifted this fabulous pair of East Street ankle boots from Daniel Footwear. The leather is so soft and the cut-outs make them wearable in the London summer and I can tell they’ll transition really well into the autumn/winter as well. My only advice is that they seem to run a tiny bit big.  The heels is only 5.5 cm which is the perfect heel height for me – I can do boot heels but stilettos and even court shoes can be a struggle for me. The quality is great and they are currently on sale! Prepare to see them in many outfit posts in the future.

I’ve been honoured to attend quite a few events over the past weekend, including the one featured in Tuesday’s vlog, Tomato’s 7th birthday party at the Earlham Street Clubhouse.

I was also lucky enough to get to attend Argos‘ Christmas preview and visions of techie presents danced through my head. But also that polar bear? When it first moved, I was terrified.

I also attended Hobbycraft‘s Christmas preview yesterday. Of all the things I saw, I was super impressed by some of the chocolate molds presented. Those are making my wishlist for sure!

On Tuesday night,  I was able to see “Measure for Measure” at the Globe with work. There were definitely some moments of comedic bliss, but there were others where the bawdy comedy was pushed too far and it missed its mark. Mariah Gale, who played Isabella, has a lovely verse speaking ability. It’s one of Shakespeare’s “problem plays” and I’m not sure this production resolved some of the problematic plot-lines but I was kept engaged for 2 hours and 40 minutes while standing on my feet as a groundling in the rain the whole time.

In fact, it’s been a very Shakespeare heavy week for me. I also saw a very good friend and quite a few other acquaintances in a production of “Much Ado About Nothing” at the Camden People’s Theatre this week. “Much Ado” is one of my favourite Shakespeare plays and I hold it dear to my heart having been in it before, so it was lovely to get to see it again, as well as seeing some friends in action.

I’ve been to three birthday parties this week, and on each occasion the birthday boys/girls celebrated in style. I’m continually honoured that people let this American worm her way into their long-standing friendship groups.

I got to have some proper baby cuddles with my 9 month old nephew this week. His family has been away for a few weeks and since I last saw him he’s grown so much! He’s so quick now!

Ala and I have been working on a project together and it’s been awesome to exchange excited messages with her all week long!

The weekend before last I went to Stonehenge and Bath with work, and I get to go to Brighton this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for some good weather for me!
