Bath, England

Last July my mom came and visited us in London and she and I went on some fabulous day trips. I’ve blogged before about how we went to Stonehenge and Windsor. The last place we went on one of our trips out was Bath. Now the lovely blogger Bonnie at A Compass Rose lives in Bath so head over to her blog if you’d like to see some beautiful photos of the town.

These are just a few snaps from my mom and my day out.  I was so excited to visit because I am a bit of a Jane Austen fanatic.  I once even read the “Mysteries of Udolpho” because Catherine Morland was obsessed with it in “Northanger Abbey”. That’s silly, right? And possibly one of the nerdiest things that I’ve confessed on here so far.

I’ve mentioned before that I don’t own a raincoat so I had to borrow Sam’s.

Things I’d Recommend in Bath:

Visit the Roman Baths
Go to the Jane Austen Centre
Try drinking the spa water inside the Bath rooms. (It tastes vile, but it’s one of those things you just have to try once.)
Bath Abbey
No. 1 Royal Crescent
Plus there are LOADS of cute tea rooms to have tea in to warm up during the day!

If you get a chance to go, hopefully the weather will be better for you than it was for my mom and I last year!

You can never be nerdy enough for me. Have you seen The Jane Austen Book Club? Someone reads The Mysteries of Udolpho for that reason. I love that movie, because I am a nerd.

    Drink the spa water? Really?

I visited Bath once when I did my year abroad, but was so poor I couldn’t afford to go into the Roman Baths. I did have some fabulous coffee while I was there, oddly enough. I do plan on revisiting once I’m moved back again. Excellent list of things to do and see!

    • What was the name of your amazing coffee shop? (If you remember) My mom and I didn’t go into the Baths properly, we just went into the building and looked around. Tried the spa water at the receptions desk, etc. And yes, you must revisit when you come back! xx

I love nerdy confessions. 🙂 I’ve also been inspired to read books because other books have talked about them. Guilty!

The place looks gorgeous! I understand about reading a book because someone in a book loves it. I think I’ve done that too. What I don’t understand is tasting the water in the bath?
