Recipe || Nutella Hot Chocolate

On days like today (ie rainy and cold) I just want to stay in bed or on the sofa under piles of duvets and blankets with a lovely hot chocolate in one hand and a book in the other. (A plate of cookies can be on the table beside me.) There are few warm beverages I enjoy more than a rich, decadent cup of hot chocolate. And I’ve also been known to eat Nutella by the spoonful. So this winter I have started combining my love for those two things.

I wish I could drink it every day. And this mug was decorated by yours truely. See my tutorial here.

4 cups of milk (I use semi-skimmed aka 2%)
1/2 cup of Nutella
garnishing of your choice: Whipped cream, chocolate shavings or sprinkles, toffee sauce, etc

In a saucepan bring your 4 cups of milk to a slow simmer. Then add in your Nutella and stir until thoroughly melted. Carefully pour the hot chocolate into mugs and add toppings to your hearts content. (Mine ended up with whipped cream, toffee sauce and chocolate shavings.)

  • I’m about to blow your mind….I’ve never had Nutella. I know?!??! So bad, right?! This looks so yummy!!

    • Mind blown! But maybe you should stay away. Your incredible dancer’s figure will appreciate not being overwhelmed by a deliciously unhealthy mix of chocolate and hazelnut! x

  • OMG, yummmmy! I love hot chocolate with whipped cream, the kind that’s made by melting actual chocolate in milk. But of course a nice cup of tea is good, too. I am British, after all 😉

    • Ugh, that’s the best time. The brilliant part about proper hot chocolate is that it’s usually so rich and delicious that you can’t drink loads of it! I love a good cup of chai tea which Sam turns his nose up at. Its PG tips, Yorkshire or nothing! x

  • I think that being a blogger is the very worst thing that ever happened to me eating healthy. And I’m not sorry one bit. This looks AMAZING!

  • This sounds delicatabley dangerous!

    • It is…but luckily for my thighs it’s one of those drinks that one small mug is perfect, any more than that is too much… x

  • I want a mug of this right now!! It looks amazingly tasty! I love hot chocolate with a heap of mini marshmallows on top…

    • I do too! The brilliant thing is you can make yourself a decadent cup of hot chocolate quickly and easily miles cheaper than it’d be to buy it at Starbucks etc! x

  • Ummm… yum! Think this could be my new favourite hot drink. Thanks for the inspiration.

  • I’m not a big warm drinking fan. I DO love Bailey’s in my coffee.. that’s always a treat. (Usually on Christmas morning and until the bottle runs out after that..!) I would be very reluctant to have Nutella in the house. Rob eats icing with a spoon if it’s in the fridge.. so you can imagine what he would do to Nutella!

    • I love Bailey’s full stop. Mmm coffee and Bailey’s…. It sounds like Rob and I have a lot in common because I am the same way with icing (and Nutella). If there aren’t any sweet snacks around and I have a craving I make what Sam calls my “Nutella spoon” aka spoonful of just Nutella. I’d be rubbish at your workout plan. x

  • oooh yum! Nutella is like heaven haha

  • Yumm this sounds so good! I love a good chai tea on chilly days, and having a good book and a cup of something delicious and warm sounds like a perfect way to spend a winter day to me.

    • I love chai tea as well! It’s my favourite way to spend a winter day. WHo am I kidding? That’s my favourite way to spend ANY day. x

  • Oh, my gosh–I never thought to put nutella in hot chocolate. Yum! I totally approve! 🙂

  • Oh, this looks positively dreamy–and exactly what I’d rather be doing on this snowy, dreary day!
