10 Happy Things Lifestyle

Life Lately || 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

How are you all doing? I’ve been suffering from the longest ever cold – going on 2 weeks now with no end in sight! Ridiculous! I’ve also been suffering a plethora of wedding related anxiety nightmares ranging in seriousness from officiant not turning up, to my mom arriving late.

things that made me happy

>>> Finishing Season 2 of Kimmy Schmidt. Such a joy to watch! Especially the episode “Man Problems ” (Season 2, episode 7). The Goldman Sachs cheer gag? Priceless!

>>> “Game of Thrones” Season 6. It’s definitely not a joyful watch, but every single episode has kept me on the edge of my seat.

>>> I had three presentations at work this week that I was a bit nervous about; including one big one on Wednesday. They all went reasonably well (I think) and it’s just such a relief to have them done!

>>> I haven’t worn tights in two weeks now and my skin is thanking me. Now to just get a bit of color on my legs.

>>> I’ve gotten some excellent toddler babysitting time in this week.

>>> We seem to have accomplished a fair bit of wedding admin lately, which is always a relief.

>>> This little space of mine got a face lift, you might have noticed. I’ve been having a terrible time sleeping lately and in the middle of the night I started installing a new look and re-organising all my posts. Hopefully the site is a bit easier to navigate now. I’m still not 100% with everything so some tinkering here and there will definitely continue.

>>> As per the above, and sleeping really poorly, I finally had a full restful night of sleep on Wednesday eve and it made such a huge difference to my day.

>>> Our flower girls look adorable in their dresses. Too cute for words! The youngest didn’t want to take hers off, which I see as a big stamp of approval.

>>>The “Darker Shade of Magic” series is very good. I loathe putting it down when I get off the train for work!

This weekend, I am going to Windsor for work. What are you up to? Any exciting plan?

I’m not sure what I’m doing this weekend but there’s a street food festival in Basel so that’s definitely an option.

    • Did you end up going to the street food festival?

It’s been really rainy this weekend, but not too cold- so it’s manageable at least! x

      • We went on Saturday. It was fun πŸ™‚
It’s raining here too and the forecast says it’s going to continue until at least Wednesday. I’m hoping it will clear up on Thursday since that’s my final public holiday of the month.

  • Yeah for a trip to Windsor, I’ve not been there in years and really really want to sort a trip out soon. So I’m a little bit jealous. Great to hear your presentations went well, there’s nothing quite like the stress leading up to them is there? Also love the new look – that font is perfect. x

    • Thank you so much! Presentations are the strangest beast! Windsor was lovely – it was still dolled up for the Queen’s 90th which was really sweet πŸ™‚ xx

  • I’ve just got to work for the last few hours before the end of Friday as I’ve been in Bristol all morning. Not bad really! Love the grid this week, it’s so sunny and full of my favourite things! Alice xxx

Nice new layout! And huge congrats on getting through those presentations. Public speaking makes me insanely nervous — couldn’t imagine having to do three presentations in one week. Well, I could imagine it, but then I’d have to throw myself off a building. You get the shiny badge of bravery from me. Wear it in good health. πŸ˜€

    • I was so worried. But then I was really ill, which ended up being sort of a blessing. I had taken so much cold medicine that my head was off in lalala land on the day and I ended up being more chilled out than I expected! x

  • I seriously miss planning my wedding! I always tell my husband I wish we could do it again. It is such a fun time. I am with you with needing a little extra sun on my legs as well. I’m looking ghostly which is not a good thing in Alabama. haha

    • I went to college in Georgia and by this time of year in Atlanta, I’d have been mortified at how ghostly I am. At least in London I have an excuse. (Kind of.) maybe you guys can have a vow renewal ceremony one day! x

  • My sleeping pattern has gone to pot recently too! Hoping a few days at home will sort me out no end! I’m loving Game of Thrones too, although, thinking about it, the sheer level of anxiety it can induce probably isn’t helping my sleep! Stephie xx

  • Whilst a two week cold really sucks, I’m pleased to hear he wedding admin is going well!
Ps. Loving the new blog look!

    • Thanks so much Emma!!! It turns out it wasn’t a cold. Well it was, but then it turned into a sinus infection. Now that I know what’s happening inside my face, I’ve been able to finally start sorting it out properly. x

  • Love all the stuff you’ve been getting up to … sounds like it has been busy but fun! I’ve had a royal visit (my Mum came to America to spend a week with me – haven’t seen her in 2.5 years) so we went around trying new local food!

    • That’s amazing! How was your visit with your mom? Mine’s coming out for the wedding this summer and I haven’t seen her in person since July 2013. (So around the 3 year mark, which is absolutely insane to me. I can’t wait to see her!)

  • Your week looks so lovely, such gorgeous shots! You have such a talent for photography and design, I’m so happy to come across your blog! πŸ˜€ xx

  • Yay for not wearing tights… though as I’m currently working in the coldest basement I haven’t been brave enough yet!

  • Nicky Nelson

Hmm sounds to me like there’s a link between your cold & the enormous amount of work on your plate! I hope you are able to take sone time off from EVERYTHING this weekend! Yep, including the wedding planning!! 😊
