Hi Rhyme & Ribbons readers! I’d love to introduce you to Sandy who runs the beautiful Etsy shop LBM Prints

I’ll let Sandy explain her perspective in her own words:

“I’ve been selling on etsy since 2009 and over the years my interest has gradually moved from jewellery making to design and photography. I have a passion for colour, shape, texture and the simplicity of a clean, minimalistic design.”

“Printable art is inexpensive way to redecorate, add a unique touch to your room and/or give as a personal gift to someone special. The art can be printed unlimited times and multiple paper types.”

What inspired you to move away from jewellery and towards print and photography?

I’ve always loved print and photography and became really passionate when my partner bought me a Nikon D5300 with an assortment of different sized lenses. I spent a lot of time learning how to use the camera to get the most out of it. I’m also a addicted to photoshop. I love the different ways a photo can be manipulated, even something as simple as a leaf can be so beautiful, printed and framed. The hardest part is choosing which final design to keep as there are so many variations that can be applied. Even though photography and jewellery making are completely different, they are also very similar as far as composition, colour, texture and balance.

What’s your biggest source of inspiration?

I am inspired every day by nature, I love sunrise and sunsets, the ocean and of course all animals. I love to capture the way they make me feel through my lens. I also find great inspiration looking through photography magazines and online as there are so many websites and apps dedicated for photography, art and design.

Have you always been interested in artistic pursuits? Yes, I’ve always had an interest and creative side to me which has evolved over the years through different activities and interests and feel everything has led me to what I am doing now.

What does your design process look like?

Every design process differs but I’ll use the example of my current animal prints, I took a variety of photos using different settings on the camera. Once I transferred them to my computer I went through and selected my favourite ones. I decided to keep the focus on the animal so I removed the background and chose a very subtle background to keep the design modern but not distract from my focus on each animal. The really fun part is that I never really know what the end result is going to be as photoshop allows me to be so creative and produce so many different variations so I usually play around for a while until I find the end result that I am happiest with.
