My Hopes and Goals for 2019

Whilst I’m not one for New Year’s Resolutions, I do somewhat believe in being able to manifest what you want. Because if you’re putting it out there in the universe, you’re probably actually holding yourself accountable (at least somewhat) for accomplishing those goals which in and of itself can lead to greater motivation and drive.

My Goals for 2019:

Get back in to running. Running really fell by the wayside for me in 2018. I want 2019 to be the year that I pick it back up again.

Grow my instagram account to 10k. That would be huge growth for me, and a lot more than I have accomplished in any other calendar year, but it’s what I need to do. Plus I really want that swipe up feature, dammit.

Make full-time income from being self-employed. I’ve only been self-employed full-time since the beginning of December, so with the holidays, I knew that December was going to be a write off money-wise. And I know it won’t happen overnight, but I’d love to be making my full-time wage equivalent within the first 6 months. There will be a lot of pitching into the void in my future.

Attend two births and post-natal doula for at least two mothers. I have my mentors lined up and my account is ready to go on the Doula UK site. Bring on the clients.

Enjoy being home. As much as I love traveling, I actually was a bit burnt out this year from consistently being away from home for short periods of time. Instead of lots of little mini-trips by myself, I’d like to go on one big trip with Sam abroad.

Return to Scotland. That being said, I’d also like to do one domestic trip in the UK. I want to go back North to Scotland after falling in love with the Highlands last summer. I’d like to venture even further afield to the Shetland and Orkney islands, potentially.

Start writing my newsletter again. 2018 was also the year that I really fell out of the practice of writing my newsletter again and I’d like to get back into it.

Work on the house. This is dependent on money, of course, but ideally, I’d love to either work on our bathroom or our kitchen this year. Both need doing in the long run. But there is some painting and smaller jobs that need doing that we can do regardless of funds.

Get the allotment into tip top shape and have a full harvest. Our allotment was in horrible disrepair when we took it over and we’ve already put a lot of work into it, but I’d love for it to be a little oasis come summertime.

Deepen my yoga practise. I’d really like to build my strength and stillness.

Read 100 books on Goodreads. (If you don’t already, you can follow my account here.) 100 books was my goal for 2018 and I hit that target (and surpassed it with over 150 books).

Tackle my sugar addiction. I by no means want to cut sugar, treats and dessert out of my life, but I do have far too much than is probably good for my health. Moderation is key with everything right? Well I need to moderate my sugar cravings a bit.

Face a difficult role with joy and gusto. In a few short months, you’ll find me on stage at the York Theatre Royal in the ‘Duchess of Malfi’, so I obviously want to do the best possible job that I can do. Which you can book tickets to already.

Learn to knit. I received a brilliant knitting kit early on in the Autumn, but I just can’t figure it out yet. A lot of the guides are video based and I’m not that kind of learner, so if you have any tips they’d be appreciated!
