York || Staying at the Judge’s Court Hotel

*This is a sponsored post. I was gifted my stay. *

The Judge’s Court Hotel is tucked away off of one of York’s main streets. In fact, it’s so tucked away that I’ve walked by it for nearly two years without noticing it. So when I ventured down the alley to find the hotel waiting at the other side, I was absolutely delighted. It’s in a beautiful Georgian building. The building has been privately owned for many years, and because there have been so few owners since the building was constructed, a lot of the original features remain and are incorporated into the hotel design.

I was thoroughly charmed by the architecture of the hotel from the beginning to the end of our stay. We had an absolutely stunning room. A large bed with a beautiful free-standing tub in the room. The tub was such a feature in the room and it instantly made me feel relaxed (and like I wanted to move in). The ceilings in the room were also gloriously high. Long live a high ceiling.

I checked in to the hotel straight away and instantly felt so relaxed that I may have taken a nap. Shh….! Don’t tell Sam, who didn’t join me until about 6pm and missed out on the afternoon napping session. Though when he arrived he did insist on turning down the heat a bit; when I’m in a hotel room I absolutely blast the radiators.

I could have done with a little bit more natural light in the room, but it’s a tucked away Georgian terrace so they don’t really have much control of the situation. But if you’re a visitor to York, the location couldn’t be more convenient. You’re in walking distance of all the major attractions and delicious restaurants.

There’s no restaurant in the hotel, however, you can organise for breakfast to be brought over to you in the morning from a nearby ‘Bill’s’. The hotel does have a bar that serves cocktails and wine so that you can have a drink in your room as you get ready to go out.

Staying as a tourist in your own city is so much fun. Sam and I used it as a chance to have a proper date night. We lounged around, I had a forever long bath, we shared a bottle of wine and then went out for dinner. We really could have been on holiday.

The Judge’s Court Hotel was an absolute delight and it’s definitely something that I would keep in mind for a romantic visit to York. Perhaps for Valentine’s Day? I visited the Judge’s Court Hotel after finding the experience on Red Letter Days. (I found it under the Short Breaks tab). If you’re still looking for a Valentine’s Day gift, I highly recommend checking out some of Red Letter Days other options.

Have you visited the Judge’s Court Hotel before?
