Eating Vegan with AllPlants

AllPlants first appeared on my radar over a year ago via a facebook ad. Because some of those adverts really do work, I clicked on it and was delighted to read about a vegan meal delivery service. However, I just sort of assumed that they wouldn’t deliver outside of London so I didn’t actually look into it.

More fool me! Because they absolutely do.

The meals arrive frozen and all you need to do is heat them up and they are ready to eat. We don’t have a microwave but popping them into the oven was easy enough. (And the meals have both microwave and oven instructions.)

How can plant-based eating be convenient?

One of the biggest worries I hear from people is that they are afraid that a transition to a plant-based diet won’t be very convenient and that they’ll struggle to find something to eat without a lot of forethought. And I will admit that sometimes that does happen. But increasingly nearly every restaurant in the UK has some sort of vegan option because the plant-based movement is absolutely blossoming.

And sure, maybe when you first transition coming home exhausted from work might seem a little daunting, especially if your tired night specials used to be a cheesy pizza but that’s why having some sort of back-up, lazy night option in your freezer like AllPlants is absolutely perfect.

My opinions on the AllPlants meals?

My favourite meal that I tried was the bhaji daal. It was a creamy spiced red lentil daal with onion bhaji bites, sweet potato, spinach and a drizzle of chilli coconut tarka.

The sweet and sour tofu was Sam’s favourite meal that we had. It was miso glazed tofu and fresh veg coated in a sticky sweet and sour sauce with sesame rice, toasted cashews and juicy pineapple tidbits. It was probably one of Sam’s most perfect meals ever.

The Rigatoni Bolognese can’t be left out either. Both of us loved this one as well. It was a rich and hearty minced mushroom, lentil and walnut ragu, folded through rigatoni pasta and sprinkled with an almond parm crumb. The almond parm crumb really was a revelation for me.

One thing that I absolutely adore about the company is their packaging. It is all recyclable, but they are also aware that many recycled things in the UK don’t actually end up recycled. In which case, they prefer that you send your materials back to them. The box that your food comes frozen in, and the packaging, comes with a return label so that you can post it back to AllPlants when you are finished and they can reuse it. I love that philosophy and I think it’s the kind of forward thinking that we’ll hopefully see from other companies in the near future.

Prices for the meals start at £4.99 per serving. Which is pretty reasonable for such an amazing healthy food delivery service.

I loved everything about the service. The meals were super tasty, the ethos brilliant and the customer service so, so lovely. I honestly can’t recommend them more highly.
